A story about "Mansfield Park (Penguin Classics)" — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Perhaps my least favourite of Austen’s works, but still a good read. I think it is the fact that many of the characters are so unlikable in their actions (whereas Emma was still blithely charming) that makes this novel less endearing.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Reilly writes as if he is working from a novelisation of a script – in fact, it always seems as if he is writing his books specifically with the movie in mind. However, his books are entertaining escapist fiction although! there is too! much! use of! exclamation points! We get! the message! Something exciting! is going on!

WORTH CONSUMING!

A beautifully constructed concept album, loosely following the adventures of John and Caroline as they travel across America while John fights his addictions.

WORTH CONSUMING!

The first book in a series that i have wanted to read for ages. Although it is extremely light, easy reading, the adventures of a postmistress and her crimesolving cat and dog are extremely enjoyable and i am looking forward to the next.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Magic realism at it’s finest, this tale of the many generations of a family completely envelops you.

A story about "Everything's Eventual : 14 Dark Tales" — 4 years ago

In typical King fashion, some of these stories are spectactular, some mediocre, and strangely enough some are downright boring. Best tales: “LT’s Theory of Pets”, “1408”, “Riding The Bullet”.

A story about "Mrs. Chippy's Last Expedition: The Remarkable Journal of Shackleton's Polar-Bound Cat" — 4 years ago

A heartwrenching story for any catlover. Although Alexander fudges the true ending (it would have been too horrible to read) she still manages to make it poignant and have you reaching for a tissue.

A story about "Looking for Alibrandi" — 4 years ago

A much-raved about teen classic. Although the story was compelling enough, at times i found the writing a bit pat and the dialogue forced.

A story about "The Nine Emotional Lives of Cats : A Journey Into the Feline Heart" — 4 years ago

Any book about cats I will read. Masson’s books are always fascinating and heartfelt, and any cat-lover will be able to see their own reflected in these observations.

A story about "The Da Vinci Code" — 4 years ago

A Little Golden Book for adults. It is sad that a great story couldn’t have had a better writer, as Dan Brown combines hackneyed dialogue with excruciatingly bad writing. That being said, though, it is a compelling read – although i do think it is more to the fact that Brown uses the convention of television writing to speed his novel along – each chapter ends with a cliffhanger to entice you to stay through the commercial break. Yet is still enjoyable. It is a book that invites many varied responses within me,
