A story about "Perfume: The Story of a Murderer" — 3 weeks ago

A couple of years ago I lived in France and the boyfriend of one of my friends there was given a copy for her birthday. I always intended to read it too and now there has been a movie of it I want to read it even more (but before seeing the movie of course). I speak French so have no real excuse not to read it in the language it was intended for.

WORTH CONSUMING!

A nice little book to dip into. I haven’t actually put any of it’s ideas into practice but I love reading it and hopefully I’ll be able to sometime in the future.

A story about "We Need to Talk About Kevin: A Novel (P.S.)" — 10 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

It almost put me off one day having kids just out of the fear of having one like Kevin!

Not the best but still worth it. — 10 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Although it’s not my favourite I feel that relegating it to the ‘not worth reading’ pile is a little unfair. It is true that you do spend much of the time feeling sick but at the same time I found it amazing that his writing can have such a profound physical effect. And as for people fainting at his readings well, wow.

I found the short stories much better than the interlocking main story but still all in all a good read.

A story about "Survivor: A Novel" — 10 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This was the first of Chuck Palahniuk’s books that I read and turned me into an obsessive when it comes to this author. He is just brilliant. Survivor is by far my favourite out of what I have read so far. It has been about 3 years or so since I last read it and it would probably be a good idea to read it again and see whether it still has the same impact after having read many more of his books.

A work of art. — 10 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

The Time Traveler’s Wife is my favourite book of all time! There are few books that I can (or want to) read over again and have it still be as fresh and emotional. As I have already said, love love love this book and the paperback copy I have has been passed around many of my friends and is looking lovingly worn and tattered. I would say that there should be a movie made of it but it just would not do the characters or the story line justice and the sense that this is a complete work of art that should not be tampered with, would be lost.
