adult and children — 2 years ago
As an adult this book was quite entertaining.
I'm currently reading 1 book, listening to 0 albums, watching 0 movies, eating and drinking 0 food items, and consuming 0 other things.
It was cool to see how the wardrobe comes about, although obviously he had to come up with something as the wardrobe was written BEFORE this was written.
Watched the movie first, I have to say they keep pretty tight together. There were parts I had assumed the video would have added later but turned out the author had thought of it, so the book was essentially visually stimulating.
I was completly lost until nearly the end, I kept waiting for them to warp into Narnia then I realized they were already in “The magical world” it was very detailed other than that so it was clearly a way of connecting a lot of dots from the other books.
I thought the book was well done, not anything particularly substantial, the dragon bit made it a worthwhile read though.
The book itself was alright, it dragged on a bit and was a sad bit predictable, but for a childrens book it was alright.
This book, to me, was the best of the series HOWEVER it was a bit overboard in the religious department. I enjoyed the series and think you should read all of them before getting to this one because it does tie it all up but Aslans big speach in this is so preachy it made me roll my eyes. Not at the idea he was trying to get across but at the fact that … at least to me, it seemed to be just a new way of getting religion into children at a young age.
I don’t like “brainwashing” as it were and so I rolled my eyes at the obviousness of the “subliminal” message.
Other than that, great book and I do recommend it.
