Why I like people who have consumed "Effective C++: 55 Specific Ways to Improve Your Programs and Designs (3rd Edition) (Addison-Wesley Professional Computing Series)" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

You should read this book before you starting writing any C+. The info is also quite useful to know before a job interview. C+ gives you enough rope to hang yourself, but this book describes the way you SHOULD be doing things.

The third edition is great. It includes relevant information about TR1, and is very up to date. I also found it useful when the author would compare C++ features to those in Java or .Net.

A story about "San Pellegrino Mineral Water" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

At my prior job in the States they kept the fridge stocked with free S.Pellegrino. This was great and I would drink about four bottles a day.

Now, sparking water is hard to find, and S.Pellegrino is even harder. Today I found a museum cafe which stocked it, and I happily had a bottle.

Interesting, but not gripping — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I was hoping for something more along the lines of ‘Bringing Down the House’. The story was interesting, but probably only because of my experience in the financial industry. This was similar in many ways to ‘The Smartest Guys in the Room’, except these people didn’t have the same moral failings which the Enron guys did.

A story about "Flamin' Hot Cheetos" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

You can’t find the flaming hot variety anywhere on the East Coast. One of the things I look forward to when I’m travelling in the rest of the United States is being able to eat Flamin’ Hot Cheetos whenever I like.
