Considered by many to be his best work, Rant in E-Minor, along with Arizona Bay, should be required listening for anybody with a brain and a conscience. Bill Hicks’ rage and heartfelt frustration with hypocrisy in America comes roaring through like a freight train.

I exercised every ounce of willpower to leave my package from Amazon unopened until Christmas day. What a wonderful book. Not so much a book to be read as experienced. It still smells like ink! From a design standpoint, this is one of the most beautiful books I’ve seen. And the content is classic HST, with a very moving forward by Col. Johnny Depp.
Any hardcore Hunter S. Thompson fans out there with $300 to burn, get this book now! There are only 3,000 in the world, and they’re going fast…

A couple of the stories in this collection misfire a bit, but most are excellent. The best story is easily ‘And The Dish Ran Away With The Spoon.’ Ranks among his best.

Sure it’s all about dead bodies, or more properly, cadavers, but ‘Stiff’ also happens to be one of the funniest books I’ve ever read. Got some pretty strange looks on the bus and in cafés when people saw what I was laughing so hard about. Highly recommended!

I finished Quammen’s ‘Flight of the Iguana’ a few weeks ago, and was so impressed that I had to read more. ‘Monster of God’ is equally fascinating. What a writer!
