Why it's taking me forever to finish consuming "Joseph Smith: Rough Stone Rolling" — 1 year ago
I read slowly.
I'm currently reading 9 books, listening to 0 albums, watching 1 movie, eating and drinking 2 food items, and consuming 1 other thing.
boomga hasn't consumed anything recently.
I read slowly.
I lived in Spain and would love to do what this author did.
Every night I read some chapter to my wife at bedtime. She bought it for my birthday because she knows my fantasy, loves Spanish food and the stories I tell her.
My wife bought me a fountain pen for Christmas this year. She knows that I love pens and has made several purchases for me over the years. This however, was the nicest pen that she has ever purchased for me. It reawakened my joy in writing. And it underscored that I don’t write very much. My interest in writing letters has been revived. There are several books out on literary letters that have caught my interest. This one by E.B. White, one by Wallace Stegner, and several on the letters of Jane Austin. This one I checked out from the library to peruse.
I have found that I want to own this book. E.B. White is optimistic and funny and reminds me of a friend of the same generation who has the same sensibilities.
I returned the book this morning without having completely read it, but it will be on my bookshelf permanently as soon as I can get to Borders.
One of my best friends loves this book and movie and is continuously saying, “I saw something nasty in the woodshed!” then pealing into laughter.
I tried and tried to read the book. I couldn’t get hooked. So we rented the movie to see if it would help. It didn’t.
I feel hopelessly illiterate.
But much relief giving up.
My lovely bride and I have a loose reading tradition. We choose a book and I read it to her at bedtime. This book is our latest. We are enjoying it so far.
I passed this author at a book signing that he was doing. I had never heard of him before, so I didn’t stop. However, I was intrigued enough at the book that I kept picking it up at the store. Finally I bought it and read it.
Very enjoyable read. Not Tom Clancy, someone said, but that is ok. I couldn’t put the book down.
Very very funny.
I can’t find the book. And I don’t actually remember starting it.
But it is on my list.
I can’t wait to see if I like it.
A friend gave this album to my wife! Great Music!!
