Why I recommend "The Joys of Motherhood (African Writers Series)" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

The Joys of Motherhood is one of my all time favorite books. It inspired me to read the rest of Buchi Emecheta’s books. Set in Africa, the story reveals how globalization and urbanization wreak havoc on one woman’s identity and place in the world. It’s very relevant for any woman who is interested in exploring the space between the myths of motherhood and reality.

A story about the last time I consumed "Sarah, Plain and Tall" — 1 year ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I have read this book at least 4 times: once as a child and three times as a teacher. As a fourth grade teacher this was always a recommended text. It was short enough that I was able to make it through the book year after year. If you are no longer in fourth grade, and this is not a required reading text, I see no reason for wasting your time.

eye candy with a plot — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I was pleasantly surprised by this film. I wasn’t expecting much and ended up rather enjoying it. The plot was well paced and had some depth to it. The cast was fine, except Robert DeNiro who was horribly miscast. Good little cameo from Ricky Gervais.
