Toure is the best. I love this guy and I am jealous of him too. If I were only so talented, hip and unassuming.

This will be one of the best records we will hear this year.
Walter Mosley is a wonderful writer. His Easy Rawlins series has entertained me for years.
This little book (about 100pp) is a journal of sorts. Walter explores why he feels out of context, why the world seems to be out of context, and what we can do to get it back in context. He shows that even creative, talented people feel out of place and wonder what is wrong with them when things don’t seem to go right. As a creative person he also realizes that it’s not him who is out of context, it’s the world.
He explains that the older generation needs to show confidence in and support of the younger generation and the younger generations need to use the talents and experience of the older generation to really make a difference in the world and making a difference is possible.
Great read!
High Fidelity was a part of my book club. I’ve owned the book and movie for years; I love the movie but I had never read the book.
It was a fun read and I identify so much with Rob…the music obsession, the being stuck in a shitty situation, the friends who don’t help.
Rob of the book is much more of a whiner than Rob of the movie and for that reason (and the fact that Lisa Bonet is in it) I like the movie better.
Bryson writes the way I think. His narrative is interspersed with these factual, historical, trival tangents.
It’s a wonderful tale of working to accomplish a most difficult task and falling short but understanding that eventhough you fell short of your goal you did a great thing.
I am in the book club at my local YMCA and this is the book for our next meeting. I’ve read about five pages and it’s a wonderfully entertaining read. Great sense of humor.
Yeah, an occupational hazard of retail is the increase of your ___ collection. Since I am now in a bookstore I am buying books…
I saw this on the new release shelf last week and it looks really good. The calligraphy is beautiful as is the binding of the book.
I’ve never read the Tao Te Ching and since I have a thing for all things Chinese I figure I should know this.
My lovely wife got me this for my birthday. Wonderful!
This is what you get when somebody else produces your record! The last NMA album was bogged down by the Dickinson Brothers production. They let their Dad produce, like he’s been doing forever, and this album is wonderful.
A loving tribute to Hill Country Blues and Othar Turner in particular.
One of my former coworkers tried to get me to watch this show for years and I just didn’t see why. I love spy stuff and disguises and whatnot (Splinter Cell) but Jennifer didn’t seem that special. I started renting them and I was hooked after the second disk of season 1. Now, I am making it through season 3.
