A story about "Uber Alles" — 3 years ago
I know this has been around forever, but I dug it out of the back of my CD pile 3 days ago and it hasn’t left my car stereo since. I’d forgotten how much I LOVE this cd.

What a gem this is. Love the artwork, the kid’s nose and the cyclist’s calves. Being a Canadian citizen living in the U.S., I got a particularly good laugh out of their depiction of the American City – (every person on the street is corpulent, a million fast food restaurants in the background, etc…)
Stumbled over MSI very recently, although I had heard their name mentioned before in conjunction with their label – Metropolis – since I listen to a crapton of KMFDM (also on Metropolis). Well hell. I can’t believe I haven’t been listening to this band for years already. They are PRECISELY what I’ve been hungry for.
I live near San Francisco and had read “The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill” in which the author mentions having read Armistead Maupin’s “Tales of the City”. I mentioned it to a coworker who promptly handed over 3 old VHS tapes recorded off Showtime. I spent the next two weekends watching snippets whenever I had the time. I enjoyed it immensely, despite its more bizarre/unrealistic moments.
Mental illness/OCD figures prominently in my life so my interest was piqued when I read the back of the DVD. Took me quite a while to “get into it” though. Not stupendous. But still worth it.
I had heard very little about this movie when I finally got around to renting it. By the time I was 15 minutes in, I knew it was going to be one of my all time favorites. And I was right.
