Why I recommend "Twin Town [ NON-USA FORMAT, PAL, Reg.2 Import - Great Britain ]" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

it’s a great film, see Rhys Ifans (Spike in Notting hill) in his natural habitat. And a very amusing appearance by Keith Allen (Lilly’s dad).

That asides it’s a great story about the underdogs coming through, even if they do it in a completely twisted and totally wrecked way. Twin town is not the Welsh Trainspotting BTW, it’s a class film, it’s very funny and has some of the most quotable lines ever. A gracious nod towards the pot heads knicking cars culture that anyone in the UK should be familiar with.

Hotdogs for tea then?

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

it made me feel depressed, lonely and angry.

I hated it.

In retrospect this may not have been the films’ fault, but I still hate it.

Why I recommend "Shaun of the Dead" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I LOVE this film. I hate zombie films and maybe thats why i love this so much. That makes no sense at all…

Anyway it’s a great parody, typically British, Simon Peg is great as predicatable looser with long suffering girlfriend, Shaun. It’s really funny, a little bit sad, and has one of the best soundtracks on a film ever.

I just love the rendition of White Lines as they leave The Winchester before they have figured out whats going on. Just makes me giggle.

Brilliant film, makes me want to see Hot Fuzz even more.

A story about "Absolut Raspberi" — 2 years ago

although I did throw up quite a lot, I blame the fact that they (my husband included) made me drink lager out of a stupid yard of ale type glass, I was promptly sick after that, the vodka was fab.

WORTH CONSUMING!

although it was good film, and an interesting look into what some people think is a possibility for humanity, and I loved the cinematography, I don’t know but it wasn’t quite as good as I thought it would be.

Glad I watched it, but not one I would go out of my way to see again. Clive Owen was good though, he should have been Bond.

Why I recommend "East Is East" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

East is East is actually one of my favourite films. It has social commentary, humour, realism, religion, it challenges you to to understand what life was like for people when Enoch powell was yattering on about all his crap about sending people back to where they came from.

It takes the whole culture and race issue in the 50’s out of the box.

Sometimes it makes you laugh, sometimes it makes you damn uncomfortable. A classic Brit Film.

A story about "Outlaw" — 2 years ago

Cliched Guy Ritchie Landan gangsta type rip off.

I love Sean Bean, usually, in this he was predictable and not entirely convincing. Shame really, a bit of a let down for brit flicks right now, don’t waste your money, wait till it’s shown on channel 4.

A review of "The Catcher in the Rye" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I was really glad to have finally read this book, it was sitting on the shelf for years, I kid you not.

Anyway, it always kind of struck me as a book for reading in school, I don’t really know why that would be.

So I read it, I had no expectations of it, I like when I have no expectations of something, that way you can’t be dissapointed. Well, it didn’t really go anywhere, so I can see why someone would be kind of let down with it, but I saw it more as a snapshot of the guys life. Like how he came to realise certain things about him in a very short space of time, I like how he learns as he goes along in his rather haphazard way. He is so typical of us all at that sort of age, you don’t see more than you want to, but it sort of happens to you anyhow, I don’t know if that makes any sense at all, I have had 2 bottles of Grolsch whilst watching the rugby…

A story about "Running With Scissors" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

having never read the book, I now have a desire to do so, I loved this film.

It showed that we all have potential to be a little bit crazy, that no matter how balanced we appear on the outside, we are all just a step away from chaos.

But then I think most of us know that anyway…
