Why I recommend "Pieces of April"

Pieces of April

by Peter Hedges (II)

This movie had a “Little Miss Sunshine” feel to it.

It wasn’t great, but it wasn’t a waste of my time either.

And, P.S., oh my god – that was Patricia Clarkson?! They did a really good job of making her look frail and not like herself. I didn’t even recognize it was her, honestly, until the credits at the end of the movie started rolling.

Watching this movie sorta hurt my brain a little… but, in the end, it was worth it.

Very good movie (but, then again, what Denzel movie isn’t good?!).

I was surprised. This movie was a little on the sci-fi end of the spectrum. I’m usually not a big fan of those.

A story about "Ray (Widescreen Edition)"

A review of "Mean Creek"

Mean Creek

by Jacob Aaron Estes

I took a gamble renting this movie one night…

A story about a few brothers & friends who seek to gain revenge on a middle school bully. They take the bully on a canoe ride with intentions of stripping him naked and pushing him into the creek. Things go a little awry, and the movie takes an interesting turn of events.

Overall, the movie was decent. But I felt unfulfilled when it was over… I had way too many questions that were left unanswered at the end of the movie. That is my biggest complaint.

As one of the previous commenters says, I’m sure there are two groups of people – those who see a little bit of their own families in this movie and those who refuse to believe that such a malfunctioning family relationship exists.

I, personally, grew up in the divorced family that the two kids in this movie grew up in. So it made this movie seem all too familiar.

The dialogue and acting were both great. I really liked the use of music as well.

I will admit, I was really confused by the squid and whale image and reference. It was totally over my head until I did some research to see what that scene was supposed to be all about.

I love how you are introduced to each character in the beginning of the movie, and their characters are unraveled throughout the movie. Each character has a climaxing moment.

The plot itself is really weak; but the characters make up for it.

I’d watch it again; but I don’t think I’d ever purchase this movie to add to my collection.

In the simplest explanation, this is the purpose of the movie.

Anyhow, I’m not a big Brendan Fraser, but he was good in this movie. Definitely watch it!

From a Sandler fanatic... (rated 3 stars)

I typically love his movies, even if his humor is so cheesy at times that it makes people wanna vomit.

Click was good… it ranks right up there with the rest of Sandler’s average movies. It’s not nearly as funny as many of his others, and, as far as I’m concerned, not nearly as good as movies such as Happy Gilmore, Big Daddy, or 50 First Dates.

I won’t get into the storyline because the previous review of this movie did a decent job.

P.S. The little girl who played Sandler’s daughter was a cutie! Haha. She’s gonna be a knockout when she gets older.

I compare this movie a lot to Eminem’s movie, 8 Mile. Both were okay.

The movie itself was ok, however, I would much rather watch Remember the Titans. It carries a similar plotline and is much better.

Sorta like riding a roller coaster. There were bits of action and then low dips of more dramatic parts.

I don’t think there was anything special about the movie, but it was decent.

A story about "Forrest Gump (Two-Disc Special Collector's Edition)"

Makes a grown man cry... (rated 4 stars)

I’m a man, and I like movies that can get me all teary-eyed. This was definitely one of those movies.

I fell in love with Mandy Moore’s character.

I really liked her insight when she says, “Maybe God has bigger plans for me than I have for myself.”

I am sure the book will be better than the movie.

Anyhow, I was quite disturbed by Ricci’s character; however, I guess that was the point of the movie.

I wanted to see more of the interactions between Ricci and her counselor. I was always intrigued by those sessions.
