*snore* (rated 2 stars)

Peaceful Warrior (Widescreen)

by Victor Salva

You can skip the first 45 minutes of this film and you wouldn’t have missed anything, seriously. The pacing was so excruciatingly slow, it’s not until halfway through the film and the story takes off, or starts.

I guess the director was trying to show how shallow the main characters life was before he met Socrates, and his inner struggle with his old self (IMO, the climax of this struggle is the highlight of the film), but it was just too terribly tedious. This could have been a really good movie.

I haven’t read the book, but I’m positive that the message gets across a lot clearly, and it’s sad the movie didn’t do it justice.

I see what it was trying to do (rated 3 stars)

In the Land of Women

This movie was ok. I guess it was about the random connections that people form with each other, and how different people relate to each other about the very same issues, and who people choose to confide in. . .

I really liked some of the moments in the movie, and I sympathized with Adam Brody’s characters, but overall, it was eh.

A story about "The Watcher in the Woods"

The Watcher in the Woods

by John Hough

This movie scared the crap out of me when I was younger. I watched it again yesterday and it still did the job. This is the way scary movies are supposed to be made. It’s spine-chilling without a drop of blood.

A review of "Mozart & The Whale (Widescreen)"

I found Josh Hartnett’s performance particularly good and engaging. He really absorbed the role of a person with Asperger’s Syndrome.

great album (rated 5 stars)

Happenstance

by Rachael Yamagata

I was first introduced to Rachael Yamagata via iTunes. One of her songs was features as a free single of the week. I downloaded it, liked it, and shortly after, purchased the entire album. She does sound a lot like Fiona Apple, but her music is definitely unique in it’s own write. Her songs are well written, and terribly honest, not always showing the artist in the greatest light. However it’s this honesty that makes Yamagata such an engaging artist to listen to.
