This documentary takes a critical look at genetically modified organisms and their implications for our health and the environment. Among the topics discussed are the patenting of seeds (genetically modified and not), the implications for farmers, contamination of wild crops and subsequent loss of biodiversity, the need to label GMOs, the possibility of allergic reactions, and other safety concerns.
The flip side of the argument, focusing on Wal Mart’s economic prowess and various arguments in defense of the company, including:
● The “social mood” of society is currently in a negative phase, causing people to dislike corporations in general.
● Chinese factory workers are better off than in rural China.
● Retail companies in general offer less healthcare to their employees.
● Wal Mart causes an influx of “funky stores” (specialized stores) into communities.
● Any wage is better than no wage.
● Wal Mart helped Hurricane Katrina victims.
