Why I recommend "The Universe Story : From the Primordial Flaring Forth to the Ecozoic Era--A Celebration of the Unfolding of the Cosmos" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

My absolute favorite book!! This book takes everything scientific I know to be true and weaves it together with spirituality. It helped me to explain what I naturally believed to be true: Science and spirituality are not divided. Just as Genesis in the Bible explains a creation story based on historic knowledge of the time, the Universe Story does the same based upon our increased knowledge of universal systems today. With so much alienation of our historic faiths, this is the kind of story the world needs to again become more faithful and more spiritual. It does not contradict any religious creationism, it only seeks to move beyond the metaphor and challenge our intellegence to realize a different perspective. A true revelation that served to bring me closer to God.

A review of "Jean M. Auel's the Earth's Children: The Clan of the Cave Bear, the Valley of Horses, the Mammoth Hunters" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Jean Auel has weaved a wonderful tale of love, romance, family, heroism, and sprituality. She is a well researched author and I admire her ability to weave fiction into a possible truth. the reader is given a bonus of insight to what it might have been like to live during prehistoric times. Every book was a page turner and I cannot wait for the next one.

How "Last Oasis: Facing Water Scarcity (The Worldwatch Environmental Alert Series)" changed my life — 3 years ago

An eye opener about water consumption. It’s so easy to forget where our water comes from and how vulnerable we are.

Why I recommend "Organic Weddings: Balancing Ecology, Style and Tradition" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Full of ideas on how to plan a low impact wedding. My only hope is that organic food and materials will become more readily available. It’s not easy to incorporate green ideas into your wedding today, but I have hope for the future. This book is a good start and a good guide.

Why I recommend "Reason for Hope: A Spiritual Journey" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Every girl should have a role model!

I have seen Jane speak in person twice. This book, a biography of her life, is as touching and inspiring as her lectures. She is a messenger with a plea for everyone to embrace their incredible gifts of love and compassion. A must read for anyone, but especially for those looking for a reason to have hope.

A story about "The Ecology of Commerce" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

After a while you get tired of reading about all the things that are wrong in the world. In this book, Paul Hawken illustrates some of E.F Schumacher’s Ideas but puts them into action for today. Where Schumacher was abstract, Hawken is real. There is hope for a positive change in the world. This is what we should be doing with economic policy, and how we should accept “business as usual” in the world today.

A review of "Voluntary Simplicity, Revised Edition: Toward a Way of Life That Is Outwardly Simple, Inwardly Rich" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

“The stuff of social transformation is identical with the stuff from which our daily lives are constructed.”

More than just a manual for living the simple life, Duane Elgin illustrates a new civilization. This civilization is wholy dependent upon every participant making a fitting choice for a new world. This book has inspired me to take action, clean up my act and speak about the importance of our daily acts. Very empowering and positive.
