I knew what was going to happen. I had heard about this book since I was in grade school. My husband is sitting on the couch watching The Longest Yard cracking up & I’m next to him with mascara running down my face. Maybe it was the fact that the main characters are my daughter’s age, maybe it’s the fact that I can identify with their loneliness at that age. I’m going to recommend it to my daughter. Classic.
but didn’t think it was “my kind of book”. I never had to read it in school, but I know many kids do. I was riveted. Could not put it down. It made me think of what I would do if I was in the same situation, survuvung a plane crash, stranded in the wilderness. It was so realistic!
I literally laughed out loud when I read this book. I eagerly awaited the movie version, but was quite disappointed. Maybe it was because I knew what was going to happen.
This was the first movie I went to where the audience actually heckled the screen.
There’s $7 and 159 minutes I will never get back.
This movie seriously messed with me. This should be shown to High School students for drug awareness. I don’t think I could watch it again, but I’ll rate it as “worth watching” simply as an eye opener.
Every time I passed the Mexican section of the Wal Mart Supercenter, I spied the mayonnaise with lime juice. I was intregued. I figured I could make a yummy pasta salad with this stuff. I finally bought it. Kinda disappointing, really. I expected more twang. The lime flavor is very subtle. I still made my pasta salad, but I enhanced the lime flavor with some sal limon. ;)
Also known as lime flavored salt. Living in the small South Texas town of Alice, we used to take bags of pennies to the corner store to see how much we could buy. Along with Sixlets and Bazooka bubble gum, we used to get little packets of sal limon for about a dime. We’d sprinkle it into our palms and lick it. Lucas was the brand of choice, and as an adult, I have discovered it at my local Wal Mart. Instead of packets, it comes in tiny little shakers. I still love to lick it from the palm of my hand, but I have discovered multiple uses.
