A story about "Headhunter" — 3 years ago

I cannot believe how long it took me to get through this book. It’s not a tough read, although there are an awful lot of characters too keep track of, and it probably didn’t help that I just read small bits in between other activities, but over four months?!

Not a favorite of mine. I didn’t hate it, but not one of Findley’s best.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I really enjoyed the book… until the ending. Disappointing ending.

Not a keeper, but a good read and interesting subject matter.

It’s taking me a while to get through this book, because I leave it at my boyfriend’s house and only read it when I’m there.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I can’t say that it wasn’t worth consuming, but I did not enjoy this one as much as The Cure for Death by Lightning.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Another introduction from my boyfriend’s mother. She served this after dinner and I liked it so much that she gave the rest of it to me to take home!

Why I want to consume "Ben & Jerry's Marsha Marsha Marshmallow" — 4 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This book was lent to me by my boyfriend’s mother – a great lady with good taste in books. It wouldn’t normally be something that I would ever pick up (I have very little interest in biblical things, and even less interest in motherhood), but I quite enjoyed it.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Amazing. If you haven’t read this yet, shame on you (especially if you are Canadian).

This book makes you see things in a different light. I personally have to disagree with one of the characters who says that the story will “make you believe in God”, but it certainly opens your eyes and makes you feel something. And anything that can do that is good, right?

The story is original, uplifting, surprising and exciting. I know that I sound like a jacket cover quote, but it’s true. It’s a literary book, while still remaining an easy to read novel. I love that.

And I now have a strange fascination with India…

A story about "The Hours" — 6 years ago

I read this book for two reasons: I wanted to, and for a book club. And wow. It’s fantastic. And I am so glad that I read Mrs. Dalloway first. Really, you have to. I love the connections and relations, both within the novel and with Mrs. D.

I’m really looking forward to watching the movie now.
