One of my favorite books of all time. People who like Italo Calvino and Umberto Eco and other absurdists should look at some books that are traditionally thought of as children’s books… The Phantom Tollbooth also comes to mind. Really fantastic re-read.
I adored ‘Naked’, and I am now giggling my way through Barrel Fever. It’s set up as a series of vignettes… they’re all hilarious and ridiculously tongue-in-cheek and dripping with his excitingly smart/accessible wit. I can read Sedaris late at night when my brain can’t handle Eco’s erudition (embarrassed), but still feel as though I’m reading something intelligent and lovely.
Neal Stephenson is a master. He and William Gibson are like my John Grishams. Snow Crash is an engaging, funny, superb read.
A completely brilliant book that renders me incontinent.
I closely identified with the main character, and I am impressed with Martin’s ability to “write women”.
That said, it wasn’t an impressive novel.
Burning through the series (re-read) like nobody’s business.

interesting and conversational in tone, ‘cunt’ succeeds in being somewhat educational and maintaining an intuitive-logic structure.
