11. Blood Diamond (2006)= Diamonds are forever…. Surprisingly enough, this turned out to be a lot better than I expected
12. V for Vendetta (2006)= The classic GN comes to life. Nicely done!
13. Little Miss Sunshine (2006)= The indie sweetheart of 06. Little Miss was a lovely film
14. Thank You for Smoking (2006)= Interesting statement focusing on the Tobacco industry
15. Bobby (2006)= Whats with all the Bobby bashing… chill out ya hippie haters!
16. Why We Fight (2006)= That’s why they fight?!
17. Rang De Basanti (2006)= Nice film but a tad overrated by the public
18. Curse of the Golden Flower (2006)= Eye candy galore! Once upon a time in China…
19. Volver (2006)= Not surprised about the Oscar snub as IMHO (I’m a big Almodóvar fan) this is a good film but NOT a great one
20. An Inconvenient Truth (2006)= Eh, where’s the snow??? A slap in the face that we all needed so badly. Go see it NOW!!
21. Casino Royale (2006)= 007:Year One The best bond and bond flick in ages.
22. A Prairie Home Companion (2006)= Strangely wonderful… A fine film
23. The Prestige (2006)= No cheap card tricks here…. another nice project by Nolan
24. Rocky Balboa (2006)= AKA Rocky 25. Actually, it wasn’t too bad
25. Catch A Fire (2006)= Brilliantly outlines terrorism in Apartheid-era South Africa
26. The Illusionist (2006)= Vienna via Prague… decent period drama…
* The Last King of Scotland (2006)= Gritty account of the tragedy in Uganda

29. X-Men: The Last Stand (2006)= X3 < X2
30. Corporate (2006)= Average fare
31. The Queen (2006)= Leave it to the Royal family to bring out a royal snooze!
32. Jet Li’s Fearless (2006)= An epic wannabe which is pretty average
33. L’ Enfant (2006)= Too artsy for it’s own good
34. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest (2006)= Nowhere near the level of fun the first film was
35. Lucky Number Slevin (2006)= Decent thriller
36. Superman Returns (2006)= For 300 million $$$, this was an extremely average film
37. Bon Cop, Bad Cop (2006)= Canucks attempt to create a mindless ‘Blockbuster’
38. Babel (2006)= I did not care for any of the silly characters here..Tries to come off as an “important” film but is far from
39. The Devil Wears Prada (2006)= Touching story in the glam fashion industry
40. Inside Man (2006)= Stick to making films of substance, Spike
41. United 93 (2006)= Interesting take!
42. The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006)= Fast and furious drifting in Tokyo(as the title states!)
43. Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for MakeBenefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (2006)= Serious stuff..lol Long time ‘borat fan’ so I had a blast
44. Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (2006)= I Really liked this fun film
... DreamGirls (2006)= Um, Is that what all the fuss was about?!

45. Marie Antoinette (2006)= A bad film all-around.. a step in the wrong direction for its director
46. The Fountain (2006)= Crap >Thanks for nothing Mr. Aronofsky

Ex Machina Vol. 1: The First Hundred Days

Being out of the comic book world loop for a while now, I recently did research to dig up some top notch work from the recent years to add to my collection
I came up with quite a few titles that caught my interest but one series that stood out in particular was

EX MACHINA
Having won anonymous praise of readers from all walks along with capturing various awards within the industry..

So I checked up with some friends and reliable reviewers and their replies were also overwhelmingly positive!

A series backed by Jim Lee, created by Brian K Vaughan(Y the last man)and pencilled by Tony Harris(Starman).... which has been building momentum since its premier issue and has everyone buzzing… how could one go wrong!

I decided to pick up the first Tpb along with a few single issues and give it a go…

W-O-W..WOW WOW…WOW WOW WOW

fascinating stuff…. this is modern day comics at their finest, folks. The origins and character development.. flawless .The realism factor is unreal!

A man out to make a difference

“Set in our modern-day real world, ‘Ex Machina’ tells the story of civil engineer and lifelong comics fan Mitchell Hundred, who becomes America’s first living, breathing superhero after a strange accident gives him those proverbial ‘amazing powers.’ Eventually tiring of risking his life merely to help maintain the status quo, Mitchell retires from masked crime-fighting and runs for Mayor of New York City, winning by a landslide.”

The pilot will shock you and if you give the first Tpb(covers issues 1-5) a try, you will be hooked!

Amongst the finest books out there today but you don’t have to take my word for it!

The 2nd trade covers issues#6-10

3rd gathers issues 11-16
the 4th TPB (due out in November ‘06) includes issues 17-20 + the 2 part Ex machina special

Vol 5 collecting issues #21-25 (out in march ‘07)

UPDATE: I have excahnged a few emails with Mr. Vaughan and he has confirmed that the series will indeed come to a close at issue#50 despite all the succes Ex Machina has had….
