A story about "A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man" — 3 years ago
To put it eloquently: this is going to be one of my favourite books for ever and ever.
Full of wisdom and beauty…brrr.

‘Basically it starts with the nihilism of that book, and tries to find a way back to life.’
Camus is utterly depressing if you fall for the apparent nihilism, the surface hopelessness – but that’s the catch. He is actually a hopeful writer! Despite the plague/Nazism/(insert topical totalitarianism )/the apparent meaninglessness of existence, there is hope ‘for summer even in winter.’
Brilliant. Besides the fact that this is important postmodernist writing (quaqua), I find HER quite interesting. Have bought practically everything by her that I could lay my hands on since.
Can’t read them with even half as much pleasure now as I first did years and years ago. Racist, class-conscious, sexist, prudish…hey, I read them just for the scenery now!
One of the most disturbing and most well-written books I’ve read in the longest time.
This is easily one of my favourite stories. And if Zachariah had been white/ part of the diaspora / went to Oxbridge, he’d probably be – wait a minute, then he would’nt have written the way he does at all!
This ought to be compulsory reading for girls. Just affirms everything I believe in, probably life changing for those women who had never celebrated their body the way it tells you to again and again.
Funnily enough, I like him better as a short story writer than playwright.
probably my favourite series of poems.
Pues, me gusta mas Electra de Sophocles que este. Pero es ‘worth consuming’.
One, it was too long (violating the number 1 rule of theater: Do not bore ‘em).
Two, too bloody depressing and dark. At least the Greek didn’t go on for three parts and three years.
