It’s very clever, the technique is interesting, but I’m not sure if I like that.

Mindlessly, life-savingly hilarious!
A beautiful, tender book, but something always gives in Winterson. However, worth reading for its lyrical celebration of the body. And the genderless narrator.
Except for the unnecessary twist in the end – maybe should have been left as a suggestion rather than stating it – this wa a fairly good film. Morbid, funny, and great acting by Dimple Kapadia.
I remember reading this in the most unlikely setting in 2002: in a photographer’s basement studio while waiting for a rehearsal shoot!
This is a book I’m never going to forget. Chilling. ‘A study in self absorption’ that haunts me to date. Is in the same category as The Stranger or Contempt for the precision of its perception.
Can’t rate Lessing for her craft, but what a mind she has. Always look forward to be made uncomfortable by her. And that crusty humour!
It’d be so easy to call this a bloody good book, but I’m going to step back and save it for The Bloody Good Book that Zadie Smith is going to write some day. This is incredibly promising writing, but not there yet. I read it very soon after it came out, and though have been disappointed by the later two, she is a writer I’m going to keep a look out for.
