Long-time friends get together at a cabin in the woods owned by Ted’s aunt & uncle (Ted never does show up the whole movie & it’s never explained???) They begin drinking and smoking and secrets and lies and affairs come up. In the evening, they take turns going to the bathroom to say “Dead Mary” three times to a mirror with their eyes closed (the witch is supposed to be in the mirror when you open your eyes). The witch doesn’t appear, but weird stuff starts happening to people one by one. And people get “stabbed” by the emotions as the secrets, lies & affairs get outed.
I thought this movie was slow moving, but decent. The suspense and scary moments could have been played out a lot better.

The movie starts out with 2 men waking up in a very dirty bathroom. In between them out of reach is a man laying “very obviously” dead. In his hand is a tape recorder and not far from the other hand is the gun that he must have used to kill himself. So begins communications with the 2 men and the killer via tapes, a photograph and a cell phone. The proposition is for one to kill the other by 6pm or lose his family. The catch—both are chained to opposing corners opposite one another.

Caught Saw last nite on Sci Fi channel—I had been wanting to see it ever since it came out. My excitement was totally unwarranted. It dragged on and on. There were so many opportunities to take a scene and run with it, but most were flashbacks to illustrate what had happened and to supposedly gain suspense/horror I guess. If it hadn’t been for the last ten minutes I would have given it only one star. But the last scenes were priceless.
