It’s surprisingly funny and witty and the characters are interesting. I picked it up because I had nothing to read from California to Texas and I couldn’t put it down. If anything it is a very interesting study compared to the movie.

Give it a chance, if the characters don’t grab you the surprising use of racist terms might.

But the book was really, really boring. I purchased several books of movies I have seen looking to compare and I am not a huge fan of the movie, but it was more interesting than the book.
