A story about "Vegetarian Worcestershire sauce" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

It exists! And I can buy it a five-minute walk from my house! Normal Worcestershire sauce has been verboten to me for many years, as its anchovy ingredients contravene my vegetarian diet. But I recently found out that anchovies aren’t kosher, and as I live in the middle of a big Orthodox Jewish community, one quick trip to the kosher shop and I’m the proud owner of a big bottle of spicy savoury sauciness. Can’t wait for the next cheese on toast, or lentil soup, or cottage pie – it’ll be just like old times. Welcome back, old friend.

A story about "trail mix" — 2 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

No way am I buying this again, half price at Tesco for a so-called healthy snack to keep in your desk drawer or no. It’s not healthy when you snarf the whole packet in a week. Although I do have a killer bicep now from compulsively opening and closing my desk drawer.

A question I have about "mini cheddars" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

How come, on the rare occasion I get a crisp craving which I actually decide to acquiese, the crisp of choice – Brannigan’s Ready Salted – is absent from the machine?! Why? Why?

These are nice, but they‘re not Brannigan’s Ready Salted. Swizz

Why it's taking me forever to finish consuming "trail mix" — 2 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Oh my god, I can’t leave it alone, someone take it away from me.

A story about "The Mind Gym: Give Me Time" — 2 years ago

Dammit! I haven’t actually consumed this, it just assumed that if I wanted to add it I’d already read it, and I haven’t. In fact, I received this in the post yesterday from the lovely Evenstar42, and I intend to read it as soon as is humanly possible.

It’s testament both to my honesty and 43 obsession that I am even bothering clarifying this.

Edit: Hooray! Thanks to headapollo for showing me how to put it on “I intend to”. This is testament to your 43 obsession.

Edit again: thanks also to Moose whose book it actually is. Share and enjoy!

A story about "Heinz lentil soup" — 3 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Ew. Deeesguuuussssstinnnnng.

You know how sometimes you eat something that’s so unpleasant that even though you’re pleasantly satisfied in the tummy department you feel like you want to eat something else because your tongue has been swindled out of its god-given right to taste nice things? That’s how I feel right now. I normally love lentil soup. I make the best lentil soup in the world, a fact to which paperfaerie, Lucyann and Headapollo will attest – in fact, paper calls me the soup queen and Headapollo once texted me for advice in his attempt to recreate my lentil soup. But this… urgh. Oddly meaty-tasting despite the absence of dead stuff, granular, kind of bitter, with small chunks of soggy unidentifiable veg… Just don’t. If you want lentil soup, email me. I’d rather come to your house and make it for you than have any of my friends put themselves through what I just went through

Why I like people who have consumed "coffee with banana milk" — 3 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

They are brave and foolish.

I bought banana milk yesterday, on a whim. I wanted chocolate milk. I should have listened to my gut instinct cos it’s not that great.

I thought putting it in coffee might be a good way to get rid of it, based on the success of coffee with chocolate milk. I was wrong. It’s like drinking coffee through a penny chew, and it’s making my teeth all furry.

A story about "O" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I know it’s hackneyed, and revoltingly sensitive-singer-songwriter, and disgustingly radio friendly but… this album gives me the right fucking horn. I defy anyone to listen to “The Blower’s Daughter” and not feel a… twinge.

Edit: I fucked up. It’s not “The Blower’s Daughter” that gives me twinges. It’s “Volcanoes”. “The Blower’s Daughter” is all soppy, while “Volcanoes” is pervy and wrong. Which is far more like me.

A story about "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (Widescreen Edition)" — 3 years ago

I’m a purist. I thought this could never ever be as good as the radio series. I was right. It wasn’t. Not bad for a beginner, though.

Just read down the other entries about this film. God dammit, the books were not first! Why does everyone go on and on about the books? Sheesh.

A story about "Shopgirl" — 3 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Just… awful. I didn’t watch it by choice. And Claire Danes, Steve Martin? You wish.
