Stare deep into the spooky depths of my crotch! Do you not fear the awesome power of tile grout?!
where in all history has there ever been a people so ripe for a dictatorship as ours
“There are those whose own vulgar normality is so apparent and stultifying that they strive to escape it. They affect flamboyant behavior and claim originality according to the fashionable eccentricities of their time. They claim brains or talent or indifference to mores in desperate attempts to deny their own mediocrity. These are frequently artists and performers, adventurers and wide-life devotees.
Then there are those who feel their own strangeness and are terrified by it. They struggle toward normalcy. They suffer to exactly that degree that they are unable to appear normal to others, or to convince themselves that their aberration does not exist. These are true freaks, who appear, almost always, conventional and dull.”
Sad story but I loved it. Things not meant to be.
I’d tried reading this a number of years ago but only got about 1/3 of the way through. I remembered liking it, but I probably got distracted or went through one of those non-reading periods.
This time I listened to the audio book. I recommend this highly if you’ve ever had trouble getting through it. The writing style makes it sound like he’s literally sitting next to you telling you the story.
This book shows that there’s really no reason to build non standards compliant sites. Now, if only my work would listen…
I think this is going to get me through the last week before the election. Something has to, that’s for sure.
It was a good story but I’m not sure it was worth the pain of flipping the book around, reading the margins, etc. It was all I could do to finish it was so annoying.
The SF club scene in the 90’s was indeed an interesting time. Sometimes I think I’m lucky to have lived through them. Glad to see Clint made it out alive as well.
