WORTH CONSUMING!

This is a delicious perfume- light, natural, and very sweet with yummy apple scents. Makes you feel innocent again! Great for wearing during the day as it’s not too overpowering.

Why I recommend "The Crafter Culture Handbook" — 4 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Not just an instruction book, this also provides a look at the contemporary craft scene and brings up issues such as politics, ethics, consumerism, the environment, and creativity. All sorts of ideas are explored through different types of crafts, and there are short statements by and about the designers. Each sections contains a thought-provoking introduction, and follows with instructions & pictures showing you how to make & personalise the projects. The categories covered in the book are: needlecrafts, re-purposing & re-using, electronics, bath & beauty, homewares, knitting, and papercrafts. The projects are fun and creative, ranging from recycled clothing and bags, to computer hardware, to knitted war protest mittens. It’s a great mix between kitsch & modern and is a very interesting read.

If chins could kill...they would do it by boring you to death! — 4 weeks ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I was looking forward to this book but it didn’t live up to my expectations. After seeing so many good reviews I was expecting a genuinely funny and quirky book full of all the exciting things that Bruce has gotten up to throughout his career. However, it trundles along at a slow pace from one flat anecdote to another, and I found it a struggle to stay interested. I read it through to the end but it wasn’t very rewarding and I would much rather spend my time watching one of Bruce’s films. If you are a die-hard fan then give it a go, but if you enjoy reading books then this probably isn’t for you.

A helpful & informative guide — 4 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This book is a wonderful introduction if you are thinking of having a rabbit as a pet. It is well written and easy to understand. The author writes with a friendly tone and provides information with references to her own expereiences with her pets. There are lots of pictures alongside the text, showing bunnies having fun and bunnies behaving badly!

The information is specifically aimed at (potential) house rabbit owners and is extremely helpful, as there is a lot to consider before letting a rabbit join your home. The sections covered in this book include:
- Why indoor rabbits?
- Are you the right type of person?
- Bunny-proofing
- Accommodation
- Diet and exercise
- The early days
- Litter and litter training
- Preventing destructive behaviour
- Understanding your rabbit
- Sensory capacities
- Gender and neutering
- Healthcare

There is also a rabbit care sheet and resources at the end of the book. It can take a fair bit of consideration and practicality to make your rooms safe and bunny-proof, and the details given are very helpful. The behaviour sections are great for understanding your pet and learning how to bond so you are both happy.

This book taught me a lot and I am now the proud owner of two gorgeous house rabbits.

A story about "Lost: The Game" — 4 weeks ago

Lost: The Plot

Whoever decided this game was good enough for release is nuts. As a fan of video games and the Lost series, I was severely disappointed. The TV show builds suspense, develops the characters well and has re-play value. The game has none of this. The puzzles are way too simple, the character interaction is painfully dull, and the photography sub-scenes are just weird. Also, the plots from all the different seasons (1, 2 and 3 so far) seem to overlap in the game which is confusing and makes it all seem rushed. If you are a Gamerscore fanatic then rent this one and watch the points roll in, it seems that every time you finish a level or reach a checkpoint they just throw you some gamerpoints. There is no challenge to this game and it would be much more worthwhile to just sit down and watch the series.

Why it's taking me forever to finish consuming "Gears Of War" — 4 weeks ago

I am not very good at shooter games, I hate the duck & hide bits and prefer to go in all guns blazing. That said, this is a really fun game with neat features and cool enemies to fight. I love the chainsaw attachment on the guns. It’s taking me a long time to finish as I can’t get my battle tactic quite right. I really get into this game when I’m playing, and it kind of throws me when I realise ‘oh yeah, moving my actual head will not let me peep around the corner to see what’s waiting there!’ and then I have to chance it and duck out & I’ve lost the flow a bit by then. It’s an interesting game and I’m going to pick it back up again and get it finished. I like the achievements for this one, especially the Berserker/Clerks reference :)

A story about "Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars" — 4 weeks ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I loved C&C when it first came out on the PC. It was simple, fun and extremely addictive. This version of the game is stunning visually and is very challenging. There are a lot of new features and there are many different sides & scenarios to follow. If you are coming in fresh to the C&C series you will love it, but I feel the game has lost a little of its simplistic charm by adding in the new tactics and features. And you can’t have attack dogs any more!! And I hate the new menu, it’s really hard to use and can have bad consequences if you’re trying to get hold of something and can’t find it, as the game is very fast paced and won’t allow for slip-ups. I loved what they did with the cut-scenes. It plays like a real movie as there are live-recorded scenes played by a real (and impressive) cast of actors. You’ll recognise Jennifer Morrison (Cameron from House), Josh Holloway (Sawyer from Lost), and Michael Ironside (sci-fi/action movie hero) amongst others. Give it a go if you have the patience and can devote a lot of time to the missions. Also, it is very worthwhile to do the training missions as it helps you get to grips with the in-depth controls, and you’ll get achievement points for completing sections.

Why I recommend "Amira's Belly Dance 101 DVD, a quality instructional workout video of Oriental Bellydance basics" — 4 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This DVD really is a wonderful way to learn the skills and abilities required for the beautiful art of bellydance. Amira is so vibrant and full of passion for the dance that it really motivates you and makes you eager to learn and build up your talent. The setup is simple and easy to follow. The movements are broken down step-by-step so you can see exactly how they work and this style of instruction is great for helping you to understand and reproduce the moves. The sections covered flow in an intuitive way and you’ll be able to make progress even from the first try. The feel of this DVD is very inspiring and is very much about having fun and being happy & healthy. This DVD will have you bursting with positive energy and once you get your confidence up after a little practice you will never look back.

A story about "Baklava" — 4 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is possibly the most delicious dessert I have ever eaten. Layers of fine pastry with chopped nuts, and syrup/or honey.
If you are healthy type then beware, when making this the recipe says to use a full bar of butter!
My dad reckons the prefect treat is a slice of this Baklava with a Greek coffee. Bite of baklava, sip of coffe, repeat.

Bad on purpose — 12 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Another video game movie that seems to be lost in translation. I was interested to see the how it worked as a film, but found it hard to follow the ‘storyline’ and the origin behind the monsters was confusing. The action is fairly good, there’s not as much gore or violence as you might expect from a horror (game) film. Boll seems to be following his usual strict routine of inappropriate casting, unprofessional scripts and incoherent plots, I think he is probably trying for his own kind of cult status which will appeal to people that like watching bad-on-purpose movies.
It’s not a great movie by anyone’s standards, but if you just want to waste some time and slob out on the couch then this isn’t all that bad. At least the special effects are good.

The easiest way for me to sum this up is by saying that the best part of the whole film is when Slater takes his shirt off. Yeah.
