A review of "The Italian Secretary: A Further Adventure Of Sherlock Holmes" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

An interesting insertion into the Sherlock Holmes canon. Authorised by the estate of A C Doyle, it’s interesting. It lacks something when compared to the original but is quite reflective of them. Caleb Carr has a good hold on the era but failed to give a feel of Edinburgh during the book.

A review of "The Love Guide" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Interesting book about sex and the Irish. However, it has no bibliography, no listing of recommended reading and it’s all stuff I’ve seen before, without poly relationships and you’d swear from the first few chapters that only hetrosexual people have sex in Ireland (there is a later chapter about homosexuality). Explicit and down to earth.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Having heard people rave about the series and fialing to catch the first few episodes I decided to read this, the first book based on the series. Faith’s first few days, a light read, with some of her backstory.

A review of "Oceans of Fire (Drake Sisters Novels)" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Completely predictable but very readable romance about one of seven sisters and the Russian man in her life. Abigail gets involved in an Interpol investigation where Alexsandr is the investigator. There’s murder and magic involved and enough hooks into the stories of the other six sisters.

A review of "Kitty and the Midnight Hour" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Kitty is a DJ, a radio show host, a werewolf. Werewolf politics are gettin in the way of her living. I actually really enjoyed this one, even if it is a very quick read. It reads quite realistically and does have a lot of the issues that a lot of authors ignore, like hiding the fact that you’re a were and what happens when people find out.

WORTH CONSUMING!

a sequel to Body of Lies, Dead Aim and The Search and some of the older characters appear in this too. Alex is a photographer who has seen too much and is being hunted by a group that appear to have contacts with the government. Logan recruits Judd Morgan to help her, a man with his own government problems.

A review of "Green Lantern: Hero's Quest (Justice League of America)" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

The story of Kyle Rayner becoming Green Lantern. He does start out being a bit of a student waster and ends up a bigger man and fitting his role of Green Lantern.
