A review of "Body of Lies (Eve Duncan)" — 7 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Eve Duncan does forensic re-construction, this job is different, a lot of money, only a skull and people around her keep dying. Logan has interests in it as well, along with the finances to help her, or has he other reasons to help.

A review of "Dark Guardian (The Carpathians (Dark) Series, Book 8)" — 7 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I read another book recently by Christine Feehan and it was readable, quite readable, this however is tripe. The Main character, Jaxon or Jaxx Montgomery is being hounded by her psychopathic step-father, who kills everyone she loves. Raised as an army brat, with some SEAL training, interested in various marial arts she sees him kill her family and then the people who adopt her so she grows up with a strong sense of justice and becomes a cop. She is of course, petite, curvy, cute and gets emotionally involved. Lucian Daratrazanoff is a dark guardian who kills the law breakers in the carpathian community. He rescues her, makes her one of his race and demands that she obey’s him. Personally I would have been looking for ways to kill him right about there but she, after some token arguments, embraces him and her new life. Nasty, manipulative and stupid. I’ve read another short story in the series and it made me feel the same. Perhaps it’s something lacking in me but I just don’t feel the need to have someone else tell me what to do with my life. What’s even scarier is that several people have said that it’s the BEST IN THESERIES. There really seems to be only two reactions to these books, love or hate. In my opinion run away NOW!

A review of "Fast Women" — 7 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

A fun fast read that drew a few chortles from me while I was reading it. A story that’s about love and loss, china and marriage, murder and stolen dogs. It’s core characters are Nell Dysart whose just lost her job and husband to her husband’s new squeeze and finds a secretarial job working for Gabe McKenna at his detective agency.

A review of "The Last Samurai: The Life and Battles of Saigo Takamori" — 7 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

An interesting look at the life of Saigo Takamori if a little superficial, in order to properly enjoy it you probably would really need to have a better understanding of more modern Japanese history.

A good book for a student of the period but a little superficial for the average reader.

A review of "Knight Errant" — 7 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

It has spectacular infodumps about life in the middle ages but I didn’t care about any of the major characters and in fact regularly wanted to slap them.

A review of "The Librarian's Passionate Knight Dynasties:The Barones" — 7 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

There was a moment when she was describing herself as a “mighty mouse” when my brain started remembering the cartoon and started giggling. Mousy librarian meets rich knight and sparks fly.

A story about "No One to Trust" — 7 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Elena and Galen’s Story. Elena is running from Rico Chavez, who wants her son and isn’t afraid to kill to get him.

A review of "100 Wicked Little Witch Stories" — 7 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

In a mix of urban fantasy and horror these are short shorts with an average of 6 pages per story some are longer and some are shorter. They’re a good mix and I enjoyed most of them.

A story about "Why Men Lie and Women Cry" — 7 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

An interesting and funny look at how men and women are wired differently.

A review of "Head Over Heels" — 7 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Readable if a bit predictable story of life in a village, which changes when a film star; Tony Gillespie; comes to live in it. It turns out that Jessie’s son is his from an old relationship, something he works out quite quickly. Tangled webs started to be unravelled and after several adventures people discover things about themselves and others.
