WORTH CONSUMING!

During the period of Isolation. The story of twins who escape the destruction of their family home, are lost from one another, one, Conn, going with a family retainer to hide within the local area, the other, Alastair, goes with his mother to Thendara. When they both meet again they have problems believing that the other has true worth. Not one of her best this lacks the power of others in the series but is still a compelling read.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I didn’t enjoy this as much as Falcon but it wasn’t a bad read, just not really my kind of read.

Sparrow has secrets, some that even Sparrow is unaware of. The Apocylapse has happened and the balance of the world is about to change.

A review of "Dream Finder [A sequel to The Chronicles of Hawklan]" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is an old favourite and the first Roger Taylor I read years ago. Antyr is a dream-finder, a man from a elite group of people who can read people’s dreams and work out what’s troubling people. He’s trying, and not succeeding, to fill his father’s shoes as leader of the Guild and his earth holder, the wolf Tarrian, is getting more and more annoyed with him.
And then the dreams of the Duke and his sons start taking a sinister turn and that’s where Antyr starts finding a place in the world that’s all his.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Lavisly illustrated this is a cross between the story of cupid and psyche and beauty and the beast. Some editions have a different cover but one has a cover that’s not repeated within the text and that’s the one I want

A review of "The Serpent's Egg" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

An interesting stand-alone. Set in a just post-medieval world and with interesting twists on this world, including what Joan of Arc did. Very political without delving too deeply into the political and with characters that I actaully cared about.

WORTH CONSUMING!

A mystery that stresses the people whose lives are impacted by the deaths. Mary Jago was an interesting character and I liked the evolution of her character as she got into relationships and out of relationships.

A review of "The Elixir and the Stone: The Tradition of Magic and Alchemy" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

A book that trudges through the first part and then in the second part starts sparking off ideas and issues in my head. The first part is history, tradition, where alchemy comes from, the second is modern. A look at the use and abuse of words and music.
Sometimes I wonder if Baigent and Leigh use their books as poking sticks to get people to think.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Hilarious look into Irish Society of the 60’s and 70’s throught the eyes of one of the Agony Aunts working at the time. A selection of her best responses.

Having seen a documentary on RTE (Ireland’s state TV), it’s interesting to see how some of her history reflects in her advice. Her own life involved an affair with a married man (Frank Hall) and a child out of wedlock, with him, who was adopted out.
