Why I recommend "Explaining Hitler: The Search for the Origins of His Evil" — 2 years ago
This work took me on a rollercoaster ride of thoughts. Rosenbaum interviews historians, psychologists and philosophers who tried to explain Hitler (not excuse, but tried to find out why he became or was who he was). Was Hitler evil and did he know he was evil or did he believe he did the right thing though to the rest of the world this was an act of evil? Inbetween interviews Rosenbaum does some very interesting research of his own. Before reading this I knew what I thought about Hitler and why, now I’m not sure, which, I think, is a better state to be in when dealing with Hitler.
