Why I recommend "On the Banks of Plum Creek" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Children’s classic ! i cant count how many times i read this, and the whole “Little House” series by Laura Ingalls Wilder growing up, as did zillions of other kids. But it never gets old, or boring….Laura’s years as newpaper reporter served her well to become one of the best storytellers of all time, and its a classic insight into the daily lives of those pioneers that braved the frontiers of this country. EVERY child should read this series at some point.

I am relishing collecting a hardcover edition of each book for my own library….

A story about "While You Were Sleeping" — 3 years ago

i dont know why i like this silly little film, it is at times campy & improbable. I guess i related to Bullock’s character at the beginning of the movie, which reminded me of my years at UC: stuck in a dead-end job and day-dreaming of a different life…

Altho, i have found over the years, that ANYTHING with Sandra Bullock in it addictively watchable—no matter the script or plot. She literally leapt off the screen for me when i first saw her in “Speed”

this has to be my All-Time favourite movie…If i should ever get the chnce to write/direct/produce a movie, i aspire to create something that has this same level of dreamy, synchronistic, dark side of the magic connections, & deep humour of the human condition, as this film does….

For me, it just doesnt get any better that this…

WORTH CONSUMING!

Isamu Noguchi: Stones And Paper (55 minutes, 16mm)

Profile of Isamu Noguchi, the Japanese-Irish-American artist whose free-form coffee table is an icon of modernist design and whose paper Akari lanterns have never been more popular. The film follows Noguchi’s long life and career from its beginnings in the U.S. to his search for his father in Japan, and the international fame he later achieved there. The artist Christo, critic Robert Hughes and I.M Pei appear in the film stressing Noguchi’s breadth of vision and talent which, besides sculpture, encompassed gardens, fountains, furniture and stage sets.

WORTH CONSUMING!

Probably the movie i have seen the most times in my life (remember, this was released before Star Wars changed the whole movie genre) I know i saw it in the theatres 17 times when i was in HS; 3 showings in a row once… It never bores me; i love Gene Wilder, & his 1st time chemistry with Richard Pryor is magic…
