A story about "Total Recall" — 6 years ago

Sara Paretsky hits another home run with this newest V. I. Warshawski novel. I am a very recent discoverer of Ms. Paretsky’s, but she continues to keep me coming back for more. In Total Recall, the combination of flashback sequences and Warshawski’s own original detective flair add up to me eagerly awaiting each new page, yet savoring each one to delay the eventual ending.

A story about "Yesterday I Cried: Celebrating The Lessons Of Living And Loving" — 6 years ago

A very good friend of mine sent me this book. It offered quite a bit of insight into what is going on with me in my life.

A story about "Flesh and Blood (Alex Delaware)" — 6 years ago

This is actually the first Alex Delaware novel I have ever read. I have only recently begun to be interested in detective novels, but I feel as though I have made several good choices for a beginner, this being one of them. Fast-paced, interesting, and readable, this book is hard to put down. Although a bit implausible in places, the engaging dialogue makes up for any unbelievability.

A story about "J.R.R. Tolkien Boxed Set (The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings)" — 6 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

My all-time favorite series. J.R.R. Tolkien is a master storyteller.

A story about "The Mermaid's Song" — 6 years ago

I’m not quite sure what first possessed me to purchase this book. Perhaps a need for “brain candy,” an easy-to-read book, for a change, or perhaps it was the pagan-like undertones seen on the blurb. In any case, I am glad now that I did purchase it. Yes, it is a romance novel, which I normally abhor, but the pace is quick, and the imagery and storyline appropriately romantic.

A story about "The Murder Book (Alex Delaware)" — 6 years ago

Yet another Kellerman book for me. The first one I read had me wanting more, so I picked this one up. It ended up being just as excellent as the last one I had read, although I find myself dissatisifed with the way the relationship between Alex and Robin was just left hanging….guess I’ll have to buy the next one. :D

A story about "Marriage of the Rain Goddess: A South African Myth" — 6 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This book seems to be a current favorite for my boys. Bright colors, easily flowing words, and a sentimental story make this one a keeper.

A story about "Timeline" — 6 years ago

I just love this book, as I do most of Chrichton’s works. The imaginary visions it invokes within my mind are compelling and quite provoking. Just contemplating the possibilities makes my mind spin, but in a good way.

A story about "Exile's Song (Darkover)" — 6 years ago

I am in that strange period where I have no new books to read, so I decided to reread this book. I think I have read it at least 4 other times, it is definitely one of my favorites. Margaret Alton returns to Darkover, remembering nothing about it or her experience with Sharra. Wonderful!

A story about "The Fall of Neskaya (The Clingfire Trilogy, Book 1)" — 6 years ago

This is the FIRST new Darkover novel published since Marion Zimmer Bradley’s death, and I was SO happy to find it! It is one of the only Darkover novels I haven’t read yet. I am on pins and needles waiting for a good, quiet time to start this one! :D
/edit/ This book turned out to be WONDERFUL. There were a few inconsistencies, but I think it just came more from it having to be finished by a different author. All in all, a very satisfying read, and I can’t wait for the next one!
