A story about "The Light Bulb Conspiracy" — 4 weeks ago
The movie concerns planned obsolescence. Planned obsolesce is the policy of deliberately planning or designing a product with a limited useful life, so it will break down.
The movie starts with a fire station in Ohio, they have a light bulb that is still burning bright since 1901.
The movie describes how products are made weaker, cheaper and increasingly fragile so that consumers must consume more in an ever increasing cycle.
The movie not only concerns light bulbs but many other items such as printers, clothes, stockings and consumer items.
The movie showed a man who had a broken printer, he was told to buy another one as it was more expensive to fix or not fixable at all. He researched more and found a ‘counter chip’ installed in his printer. This counter ship tells the printer when to stop working. He discovered a free program from Russia, downloaded it and installed it on his computer. His printer started working immediately.
