A story about "Volver" — 1 year ago

Were it not for the stunning beauty of P Cruz, I would have to write this movie off as a disappointment.

A story about the last time I consumed "Donnie Darko" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

It’s a “GroundHog Day” sort of stretch, however, I think I finally figured out a possible explanation why somebody would have to “die” for our sins.
Could Jesus have saved us from a recurring time loop?

A story about "Wild Justice" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

It appears that I have read this one before. I seem to remember it was quite good, so a rare re-read is in order.

A story about "Deja Vu" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

What I learned while watching “Deja Vu” 2006:
I never quite “got” the concept of a wormhole, and the movie made a pretty good analogy of a piece of paper folded in half; essentially cutting in half the distance you would have to travel. Otherwise, time moves linearly along the longitudinal course of the paper. Incidentally, the movie also referred to a Einstein-Rosen bridge as being synonymous with a wormhole.

A story about "The Millionaires" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

What I learned while reading “The Millionaires” by Brad Meltzer:
1.) If a bank account remains inactive for five years, the bank must send a warning letter to the address on file, and if nobody claims it; the money gets reverted to the state.
2.) The Magic Kingdom at Disneyworld has tunnels that emanate from The Enchanted Castle like spokes on a wheel where cast members, delivery trucks, and refuse lurk. Every wonder how the Disney characters just pop up?

What I learned from reading “3rd Degree” by James Patterson:
Ricin, though several orders of magnitude less toxic than botulism or tetanus toxins; is still 6000 times more poisonous than cyanide, and very easy to obtain (castor beans).

A story about "Up Country: A Novel" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

What I learned while reading Up Country by Nelson Demille:
1.) Police states suck.
2.) 1 million North Viet and 1 million South Vietnamese soldiers died in the Vietnam conflict.
3.) The area between Saigon and the Cambodian border is some of the most heavily bombed real estate in the entire world.

A story about "Happy Feet (Widescreen Edition)" — 1 year ago

What I learned while watching “Happy Feet” 2006:
During the cold season, the penguin mates separate for several months to protect the egg. Usually, the male stays with the egg and keeps it warm while the female goes to sea to find food for the baby. When the female comes back, they switch roles.
Probably the reason penguins are so friendly, is that living in Antarctica as they are, they are not as susceptible to human predators.

A story about "Madagascar (Full Screen Edition)" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

What I learned while watching “Madagascar”:
When the French ruled this island, it was called the Malagassy Republic.
The meercats, which are heavily portrayed in the movie as living on the island, are known to inhabit the Kalahari Desert and South Africa only, according to Wiki.
