A story about "The Tale of Murasaki: A Novel" — 1 year ago
I’ve read this three times now and I love it more each time.

I’ve read this three times now and I love it more each time.
Dark, creepy, twisted, gritty, gorey.
AMAZING. The best take on this ancient myth that I’ve ever seen.
Not a movie for the faint-hearted.
I watched this for a creative writing class. I don’t remember why, I think the teacher just liked showing quirky films (we watched ‘Fausto 5.0’ in the same class, so…) but it sparked my interest in foreign films.
I was forced to watch this film for an english project, but I ended up loving it so much. It makes me giddy inside. :D Hehe. I really identified with Salieri as a character, and Tom Hulce as Mozart was an unexpected delight. Plus, the music is awesome, but that should go without saying. It’s funny but this movie made Mozart’s music mean so much more to me. (Not related, but wasn’t that some awesome alliteration just now?)
For some reason, I think the theatrical release is better than the director’s cut, but the director’s cut does clear up a few questions.
This movie is GENIUS. Witty, dark, satire with great writing and acting. I love some of the lines in it, my friends quote it all the time. All it takes is a look and “We have to protect the precious…fluids” for us to crack up. :D
“Gentlemen, you can’t fight in here! This is the war room!”
I didn’t think I would like this AT ALL, but after watching it it’s become one of my favorite ‘classic’ movies. It’s just full of great lines, and Humphrey Bogart is amazing.
I’m such a fangirl over this movie. It’s one of Disney’s underappreciated films, and really, it deserves more attention than it gets.
Unique and captivating animation, a nice twist on a classic story. The only thing that bugged me was the robot comic relief.
It came at a bad time, when the animation industry was shifting towards 3D animation, but it’s a great film.
Worth the read, for sure. It’s one of the few novels for teens that addresses sexuality in a way that is realistic and relatable. Alex Sanchez is an excellent writer. I got hooked on this book and the two sequels, and had my emotions totally strung along with the characters.
Then again I’m the type of person to get emotional over imaginary things, so take what I say with a grain of salt. :)
This movie should be called “Labyrinth, starring David Bowie’s Crotch” because, really, that would be a more accurate title. Whenever Bowie was on screen, it seemed like there was a little spotlight right there, hilighting it for all to see.
Or, was that just me?
Anyway. I only recently saw this film. I think if I had grown up with it my opinion would be very different (puppets scared the hell out of me, for one thing.) but as it is, I found this a great film to laugh at. I was giggling the whole way through. David Bowie should always be in spandex, that should be a new law. I don’t care if he’s like fifty something now. “Magic Dance” is the most catchy song in the world.
Watch this film.
This movie is the first in a long, long time to actually suprise me with its plot twists. Literally, I did not see it coming AT ALL. It just leaves your mind reeling.
Besides that, this is a powerful film that can be enjoyed on many levels. I was taking a psychology course when I saw this—it was fun to analyze the main character’s mind.
It’s one of those movies that’s actually more fun the more you watch it, I think. I’ve seen it three times and I’m still seeing new things about it.
Anyone who dislikes Brad Pitt needs to see this film. “Fight Club” changed my entire opinion on him, and now I find myself defending his acting whereas before, I hated everything about him.
Plus, Brad Pitt covered in blood and laughing like a maniac = hot. Sorry, it had to be said.
