Why I recommend "Mostly True: A Memoir of Family, Food, and Baseball" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I enjoyed this well written, mostly true memoir(!), because of the family dynamics interwoven with the food stories. It was an interesting read that took me back to the 70s.

Why I recommend "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This story was a hit amongst all of the members of my book club. Normally we don’t have consensus on all of us either liking or disliking a particular book. Different areas of the book generated a good 2 hours of conversation about how the book had impacted us in thinking about autism.

Why I recommend "The Shipping News" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Annie Proulx writes to make a story in a dreary setting seem charming and hopeful. The quirky names that she gives the characters makes this book a must read for me. This is the kind of book that I read about once a year, if not more, when I need to lose myself in another person’s story.

A story about "Tender at the Bone: Growing Up at the Table" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is a memoir that made me laugh and shudder in horror at the same time. What a mother this author had!
