Why I recommend "A Loving Scoundrel" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I finished this book in one sitting. Jeremy has always been a lovable Malory character for me and his own book is no exception. In addition, the whole Malory clan is here en masse, with James, Amy & Regan playing prominent roles in this story. Danny is an excellent and independent heroine, definitely her own person. She really is a character, very well developed and I love how JL explored all the facets of her life and choices. You could see her motives and what led her to make her decisions.

The storyline was most unique, edgy and exciting from the first page all the way to the end. There were even some tearjerker moments. It was funny, witty dialogue with a very fun ensemble. The ending was absolutely perfect, couldn’t have wished for anything better. All the loose ends were tied up nicely and it’s definitely one of those feel good, happy ever after kind of stories.

Is it worth consuming—-YES!

A story about "All I Need Is You" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This was a re-read for me and I really enjoyed it. All the characters are lovable and very well developed. The plot was engrossing, with enough wrenches thrown in to make this love story very, very interesting. The ending could have been a bit more developed and it actually surprised me. Lindsey is usually pretty good with knock-out weddings. Oh well!

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes JL and her Westerns.

A story about "Outlaw's Bride" — 3 years ago

It started out great…then as the plot unwound it got really dark and really wierd. It’s just hard to believe alot of the scenarios and how the whole town was blind as to who the real villian was. Even I knew who it was and I sensed it about a third way through the book. Uuugh.

I normally enjoy JJ’s books but this one just didn’t do it for me. I give it a C.

A story about "The Mummy Collector's Set (The Mummy (1999)/ The Mummy Returns/ The Scorpion King)" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I finally watched The Mummy & The Mummy Returns, today. I know, I’m about 5 years too late but when it came out—-I saw the scarabs and I totally freaked and thought it was a scary movie. I was finally convinced to watch it today, but I made him promise that he would tell me if anybody I liked was going to get killed and that if I got too scared I could hide behind his shoulder.

Heh!

Yes, I’m a big chicken. And yes, I now realize that my fears were unfounded. I loved both of them, even with the really obvious computer graphics. The storyline was amazing and the continuity between both episodes was great to watch. I loved the chemistry between Frazier & Weisz. Whatever did happen to Brendan Frazier? Last time I saw him was in that torrid Monkey Bone movie.

A story about "Chasing Destiny" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Of all the last few Dickey books I’ve read, this is by far the best. He takes you into the minds and intent of everyone, the villians as well as the heroines. There is so much going on, and yet everything is inter-related. I felt the ending could have been a bit more developed, was kind of rushed but all in all it was a very satisfying read. If you like EJD, then you will enjoy this book.

Why it's taking me forever to finish consuming "A Breath of Snow and Ashes (Outlander)" — 3 years ago

It has a slow start compared to the other Outlander books. I’m still sloughing through the first 100 pages and somehow it’s ended up on the bottom of my TBR pile. I guess I will get back to it soon, though there are currently half a dozen summer reads ahead of it.

A story about "Dark Side of the Moon (Dark Hunter Novels)" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Yes, I did get it the same day it came out. Yes, I did pay $19.99(ugh). Was it worth it? Hells yea! I loved the book. It is definitely bigger with a heavy storyline than the original DarkHunters and Ravyn is a pretty decent hero. Once again Sherrilyn throws a wrench into the world of DH as we know it and after this book--nothing is ever the same. Do I recommend it-yes, it’s intergral to following the DH story. If you are going to miss out on a book, this isn’t one to miss out on, you have to read it just for the plot points alone.

My complaint—-we needed more Ash in all his wonderfully scrumptious Acheron-ness. What’s the deal Sherri? Sure I like Savitar and he kicks ass but Ash is the alpha hero that we know and love. I can’t believe that you kept Ash away for majority of the book. Uuugh. I positively hate Artemis, always have, but now I hate her worse.

Ravyn, he’s okay. Didn’t knock my socks off like Vane did. Guess I only have room in my heart for one shapeshifting cat.

Susan, now she is one kickass heroine. Literally. She reminded me alot of Tabitha but not so dark. She was really funny, I loved her. I like how she held her own in all the fights and ended up saving Ravyn alot instead of the other way around. Way to go babe!

Stryker is back in full form. He’s really the ultra villian, the one that never dies and keeps on coming back. I think he’s going to be in alot of the books until the ultimate showdown between him and Ash. After all, the Destroyer must eventually pick her favorite twin.

Nick…...I CAN’T BELIEVE IT. HE SHOULD FRIGGIN KNOW BETTER. WHAT THE HELL??? I can’t believe it. My heart is breaking….I hope he sees the error of his ways and does something to fix it real soon. I like how she incorporated Katrina in the story.

Satara (or whatever her name is), royal PIA! I’m mad that Ash didn’t notice her in the Sanctuary club when he had that convo with Nick. That was totally not Ash…..he notices everything. Sheesh.

Loved the new characters introduced. I hated the killing of Belle, that was so wrong. Can’t wait to read Zoe’s story, I hope it’s a better female DH story than Danger’s was. Now Cael’s story is going to be very interesting now that he’s a DH Daimon. Almost creepy to think about. His friends are going to be hunting him. I hope him and his mate survive. I wonder how that’s going to end out. At least Ash knows about this.

So many plot points going through my head. I loved this book. But I was completely thrown for the loop and not expecting alot of what happened.

So when’s the next one coming out?
:p

A story about "Why You're Still Single" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Of all the chick lit books I’ve read, this is by far one of my favorites. It ranks right up there with He’s Just Not That Into You. Written in a no-holds barred, forthright style that is both humorous and insightful, the two cowriters Evan Katz and Linda Holmes examine Not the normal parameters of How to Catch a Man, but actually what we are doing wrong in every relationship we encounter and why there is truly an opposite view on relationships from both sides of the gender divide. It’s a short yet thought provoking and hilarious read, you can finish it in one sitting. Evan writes from a guy’s point of view and Linda’s voice is the girl in all of us.

Each chapter is a look at the reasons you might still be single. From subjects like You are Knocking Yourself out of the Game, You are just not that Into Yourself, You are the Patron Saint of Lost Causes, You are a Bitch, You Fight Like a Girl, You are Missing the Signals For When to Get Out….and When to Stick Around, You are Boring Him in the Bedroom. Each chapter is broken down further into different sections that examine how we sabotage ourselves and our relationships in each of these scenarios.

The book doesn’t take the tone of I’m So Good at this Relationship Thing and You Suck! that alot of chick lit books engage in but proves that we are all just trying to make sense of this thing called love. It really does examine deeply the issues that single people face in the dating realm, the unrealistic expectations we have of each other and how we allow past relationships to color our views on the new one. It shows each of us what we are doing wrong in the dating arena using the theory that when you do know what’s wrong, then you can fix it.

I highly recommend this book to all the ladies out there who dig this kind of literature. As Evan said, “The moral of the story is that both men and women are flawed and broken, but you can’t change men or get them to read self-help books”.

The book comes out in mass publication on May 30. Enjoy!

A review of "The Bride's Necklace (Mira)" — 3 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

The plot seemed really good initially but Kat really let the ball drop on this one. It wasn’t engaging enough, the characters weren’t deep enough and it was really hard to connect with the story. Everything was predictable and even the conflicts were “resolved” in like 2 pages. I don’t recommend this to you even if you are a Kat Martin fan, personally I think it sucked. The book lacked any depth or interesting plot, just followed the same basic Regency formula with a jaunt to Paris thrown in to amp it up. Could have been a whole lot better.

A story about "Two for the Money (Widescreen Edition)" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I came into this movie with low expectations and yet enjoyed the dynamics and got caught up in the excitement of the themes. It is definitely different than most of the movies in Hollywood today and examines an industry that doesn’t get looked at often.

Al Pacino/Rene Russo were great and you could see the gradual evolution of their relationship from the beginning when John Anthony (Matthew) entered their lives and when he left. I especially loved the last scene of Redemption when Rene got on her hubby’s case for gambling with their lives.

I didn’t like the ending, and it definitely wasn’t one that you were expecting and totally deviates from the Hollywood angle here however it just adds to the plot another layer that makes it more interesting.

The whole JA losing his mojo was really hard for me to watch and especially when he kept trying and trying but really couldn’t get the magic back. However, you do see the descent of this good boy to a money-hungry businessman who tossed over all his scruples for the almighty dollar.

And yet, through that whole mask, Brandon still managed to retain himself—-and didn’t give it all up. In fact, he gained more than he went in with, an experience that changed his life.

However—what happened to Pacino’s empire after that one win? I wonder.
