...but all in all, this was a funny book. If you’ve seen either of her HBO specials, you will be disappointed because a lot of that material is in the book. HOWEVER, although there were a few other funny parts or lines… those parts from the HBO specials were the funniest to me – probably because I could hear and see Ellen reciting this in my mind as I read it. And any fan of Ellen will agree that her comedic timing is perfect.

The J.A.P. Chronicles: A Novel

Although it was well written, I expected this book to be a light beachy read, like most others in the chick-lit genre. The dysfuntion among these women made it much deeper than I expected, so I didn’t enjoy it quite as much. But for those expecting something with a bit more drama, you will surely enjoy this!

So 5 Minutes Ago: A Novel

This book just wasn’t written well enough for me to stay interested in it… too amateurish! Plus I find that a lot of the sentences are confusing – like while trying to insert an off-topic thought mid-sentence, she isn’t clear about whether the second half of the original sentence goes with the first half, or the off-topic thought. I’ve gotten to page 55, and I’m still not invested in any of the characters. I find myself thinking “yeah right” and “who cares”... so onto the next. I’m sure I’ll like Hilary’s other book more!
