AWESOME! If you have Any appreciation of 19th century literature, or even a passing familiarisation, this book is well worth the read. Starts out sounding a little contrived as one of the characters seems initially pretty arrogant, but everything works out for the best, and has a great satisfying ending.

Awesome! The last chapter was excellent! The main thing I have to say about Herr Brust’s writing is that he is Solid. He keeps you tuned in from the very beginning and always knows how to end the story. Vlad’s a butt-kicker.

One of my favorite books ever. I love old Wolfe, Vance, LeGuin, and Zelazny. There’s some really cool original story-telling there.

I really wanted to like this movie, but other than a scene or two it just wasn’t happening.

I am unimpressed.

WHATEVER! Simply put, it’s dang good – better than Leinie’s Nut Brown in my opinion.

Great book! I loved the characters, and Powers writes with a certain feel of authority that really embeds the reader solidly in the reality of the setting. A very knowledgable writer – the guy knows the stories and history behind the various meanings of tarot cards well enough to rattle arbitrary information off left and right and yet still keep this aspect seperate from the focus on the characters.

This was worth watching, but would have been better if it wasn’t so dark. Many of the scenes were supposed to be night shots, and given that it was a 1950 b&w you could hardly see anything. Oh, and it’s Very sexist.
