I have to put this on hold. I’m being asked to read Count of Monte Cristo right now instead, so am looking for an unabridged copy.

This wasn’t as good as I was hoping it would be. The sexual antics were inappropriate in almost every instance that they popped up; the only purpose they ended up serving for me was to give me a really – hopefully – skewed picture of everyday Punjabi life.

It was good. The layout was pretty engaging. Once again though, you’d think I’d learn…

I am really impressed by this compilation – satisfied beyond words. The book itself was a work of art. I loved it!

I watched this with my daughter tonight. She and I are big fans of Wuthering Heights, so when I saw this at the library I told her that this was a story by her sister and she wanted to watch it right away. What a great film! I never read the book, though I’m sure I will soon. My daughter is a complete convert to the Bronte sisters; she can barely get through any of the syrupy Austen novels or movies, but W.H. and the Eyre movie have her completely sucked in.

I did Not like this At All.

I gave this book my 45 page rule and could not get into it. The book cost me 12 bucks though, so I gave it another 40 pages and still couldn’t get into it. Unfortunate. I am laying it aside.

I like this one. So far, it seems to hold a lot more promise for a decent ending than his other novels. Definitely in the category of speculative science fiction, though I don’t know that I’d call it dystopian.

This is the third of Reverte’s books that I’ve read. I love the guy’s style, and I’m glad I take a year between books. This one was a slow burner that was filled with an impressive amount of sailing and navigational lore, along with Reverte’s signature style of describing people and places.
