This book is mind opening, if read with an open mind. Most who have not come to the inevitable conclusion that the single best way to improve one’s health, and by extension the health of the planet will balk at giving up meat and dairy. Campbell suggests trying a plant based diet for one month – and at the end of the trial period one has not seen some substantial benefits then by all means, do what you’d like to do and eat whatever you want. Personally, I’ve dropped over 40 pounds since going from a herbivore diet to vegan, and I’ve never felt healthier. I’ve experienced serious health issues in the past, including cancer and heart disease, and my doctor is asking what I am doing. Of course when I tell her, she chose to ignore the obvious and took all the credit for my lower blood pressure, reasonable cholesterol levels, and reversal of the problems that were causing serious and life threatening blood clots deep within my veins.
