A story about "Galactic North" — 1 week ago
This is the first book I am reading that had been taken out with my brand new library card! It has been years since I had last rented a book.

This is the first book I am reading that had been taken out with my brand new library card! It has been years since I had last rented a book.
I vaguely remember reading it years ago… doesn’t matter, it seemed new to me anyway. Good enough to read twice, I guess!
The cover says something like “the most terrifying aliens are in humanity’s image” so I thought it would be something more interesting than just a different culture on another world with a couple hidden differences.
For some reason, the book didn’t point out that this was an anthology, so for half the book I was waiting for the various “chapters” to come together and make sense.
I never thought that I would like this kind of book, but I did! The character development and detail make all the difference.
Very neat concepts in this book. I love new ideas and imagining a world built around them.
I really liked this book. The characters were very lifelike, and the story was fastpaced and interesting. I am usually into Science Fiction, but I had this book given to me and was pleasantly surprised. It also had SF elements. I will definitely be reading more from this series and author.
Last time I read this, the biology didn’t make sense to me. But I had become determined to understand it, so this time I “got” it and it made the book much better. I will start the next book soon.
Note to self: No more Frank Herbert.
