A story about "Fly On The Wall" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I got mixed comments about this; for one, I have two teenaged daughters and if I have certain feelings as to what I would do if one of them were involved in such a situation; then again, in the book there were certain things that I just wouldn’t do on the job; perhaps I see things cut and dried but that is me; I am down for love in all things, but all in it’s place. As for her friend Toni, I felt sorry for what went down with her but I liked it but with some resevations.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I have started collecting when I was a little girl but stopped and started collecting seriously last August. I wanted to put this in but didn’t think there were any serious collectors out there until I put my must have list together and there I was ; I got two postcards today. One from Finland and one from Louisiana; I love this site!!

A story about "What I Know for Sure: My Story of Growing Up in America" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I have always admired one who have the courage to tell their life stories; Tavis is no exception; I ran into this book at Walmart and was tempted to buy it; but knowing that I had a copy on the way, I didn’t. Great reading for anyone.

A story about "My Mother's Witness: The Peggy Morgan Story" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Other than Bebe Moore Campbell’s “Your Blues Ain’t Nothing Like Mine”, has a book ever went under the surface and speak of the wives of the murderers and perpetrators. This book, however, does that; In this book, Peggy’s mom Inez finds out that her husband somehow is involved in the gruesome murder of Emmett Till, and eventually has her committed in a mental institution to keep her from revealing the truth. Peggy grows up, marry another “good ol boy” who is a segregationist as well and finds out through the horse’s mouth that he was the one who killed Medgar Evers; Her testimony in 1994 in Beckwith’s second trial helped to put him in prison thirty one years after Medgar Evers was killed; She also tried to get a hold of Mamie Till Mobley as well so as to release the past for her mother’s sake; this book is truly awesome; HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

A story about "His Girl Friday" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

what I like so much about this movie is the fact that it is quick, fast and you have to keep up with what’s going on; Cary Grant is a self serving,ruthless newspaperman trying to get the story out about a man who about to be executed but somehow he escapes right into Cary Grant’s office; Rosalind Russell, in true fashion, is a reporter(and ex wife to Cary) who is about to do this one last story about it as a favor to Cary Grant, who also puts her fiance(Ralph Bellamy)out of the way by having him arrested and gets him in trouble to keep him out of the way. very fast paced action packed picture.

A story about "The Miracle of Morgan's Creek" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

In this world today, something like this is commonplace, but back around the 1940s, common decency still reigned; Betty Hutton plays this crazy young lady who just “has to disobey her papa and go to the dance they were having for the “boys”leaving to go off to WW2; Well, while there, she hooks up with a bunch of folk who somehow get married but the thing of it is TO WHOM? and by the next day, she comes home with no knowledge of it until she ends up pregnant later on and can’t remember who it was she married; In comes the sap William Bracken, a 4F who’s her friend and just “has” to help a damsel in distress; so, he goes and helps her by trying to get married to her and starts a whole bunch of new mess and doesn’t end until she has her babies; Six in total; what a picture. Preston Sturges started filming this movie in segments in 1941, and didn’t release it until three years later in 1944;

WORTH CONSUMING!

The Queen of All Madcap Comedies!!! Eve, her dad and another fella are cardsharks making dough off of rich and unsuspecting folk; Henry Fonda is a rich yet naive man who fall for her but somehow they get caught up in a whole lot of crazy antics that even have me shaking my head at them;

A story about "Flip Wilson Show, Parts 3 & 4" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

As a child, I LOVED me some Flip Wilson; He came on every Thursday night on NBC and had the best show going back in the early 70s; His Geraldine was the bomb and was the forerunner for Madea, Big Momma, Eddie Murphy’s two mothers etc. Geraldine was younger, had her a man named Killer and put her nose where it wasn’t wanted sometime; The Church of What’s Happening Now was another; The reason that these shows are not as known was after the show was cancelled, Flip shut them down and didn’t let them go into syndication which to me was real sad and regrettable until urged by one particular fan not to shut down his gift and to put them out there and he got to do that before he passed in 1998; You can now see them on Nick at Night; Go and have a laugh when you see them.
