Tom and Meg to me make the ideal onscreen couple; In this movie, you can’t help but notice the attraction between them; Funny thing is, the other don’t know it; And it takes a child to bring it on home for the two of them;

Just looking at the sauve debonair Cary Grant do his thing is worth the price on this one folks; Ever since I watched him and Grace Kelly(Princess Grace later on ) in To Catch a Thief, I was hooked with his movies; Honey, he could charm sugar from a cookie! In rhia movie, he plays a gigolo on his way to America to marry this rich heiress; but life throws a monkey wrench in that when he meets Deborah Kerr, a kept woman of a rich man who she is on her way to meet; They meet,fall in love(to the joy of the fellow shipmates), and agree to meet at the Empire State Building in six months; OK, sounds good; I would have been there with a cute dress and all myself; but hey, life comes and throws ANOTHER monkey wrench in the plans when Deborah Kerr, on her way to meet Cary gets into an auto wreck; Will the two ever meet? well, watch the movie;

I watched this on cable some time ago and I tell you, I loved it; For those of you who don’t know, Moms Mabley was one of THE foremost black female comediennes of the 20th century; pre 1960; she was known mostly in NYC because she was a regular at the Apollo; If you don’t know her, google her cause I got to tell the plot; But she was one of the greatest before Whoopi, before Richard; Anyway; this movie was actually sadly her last hurrah, but she packs it just as good; She plays this elderly lady who is just too dang nosy for her own good and happens to find out along with Slappy White, a plan for this candidate(Moses Gunn)who was NOT really a candidate to get some money earmarked for the black community, but was really going in his pocket for his own uses; But thank God Moms save the day by setting him on the right road and cooking some gooses along the way; It’ll have you laughing; check it out.

And I keep on consuming it; Whenever TCM had it on, I would go and see it; This is timeless ya’ll; to see two people who had a bad shake in life(nervous breakdown, bad marriage) find one another and have a mighty love make you want to root for them to the very end!!

“Times like this I wish that raindrops would fall” oh, that is one of my all time favorites; The story about a group of young black men who go through things to become one of the top groups yet have obstacles on the road is one of my favorites; Perhaps it remind you of Motown and how so many of our own literally climbed or fought their ways to the top;Great movie.

Another of my favorites; I had this in VHS, and caught a nice sale for it online on DVD and bought it;And shows just as good; A story about two young lovers who try to make a life for each other but is caught up by other family obligations and pasts; The ending will have you crying but the part where they went to the bayou is a beaut.

One of my absolute favorite pictures; I found this gem by accident on PBS, my mom and I, and we just fell in love with it; It is about these two sisters during WW2 Harlem; The eldest one takes in a border who is looking for his girlfriend who left him in S.C. for the bright lights of NYC; Instead, he falls in love for the older yet beautiful and charming Phylicia Rashad, who has never married and called “An old settler” a term used in those days for women who never married; but now can’t seem to shake the other girl a loose;

One of my ALL TIME favorites; but don’t own it yet; About a man who goes to prison for life for killing his wife and lover, but learns some things in there; Very interesting movie;By the end, I was cheering;
