A story about "90 Minutes in Heaven: A True Story of Death and Life" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I became interested in this book when I first heard about his story. When I got a hold of the book, I read it in bits and pieces, but I thought perhaps he had been telling his heaven story, but obviously not. To have actually died and come back is nothing short of a miracle, adn I highly recommend reading this when you feel that you got problems out the ying yang and can’t possibly make it. you’ll be surprised.

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I consider myself an adventurous sister; I don’t mind reading and learning on things, but this book, uhh uhh; It starts off with a bunch of ladies decide to buy a stripper’s pole after one of them saw a stripper’s business card in their man’s pocket. So, the chip in and buy one and actually go to a strip joint checking things out. Interesting, but disappointing;

WORTH CONSUMING!

When this book came hot off the presses back in 1996, I was one of the first to buy it in hardcover and didn’t mind either. She speaks about her early life, her three sisters who have all since died and her parents as well. She speaks about having been molested, yet despite of it all, she gains fame as part of Patti Labelle and the Bluebells, then Labelle. Some things she set the facts straight on as well. But had to put this in as one of my absolute favorite books and bios.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I have met Glenda at the Sister 2 Sister Expo here in Mobile, and at first I won’t lie, I thought the book was a novel with the usual theme, but as I took it up again, I find that it’s a self help book for the ladies (and men as well) dealing with relationships, families, looking your best and protecting your health. We have since gotten to writing each other on MySpace, and I HIGHLY recommend the book to anyone here at All Consuming. Peace.

A story about "What A Women Needs" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I really enjoyed this book for real. you had this one woman(Susan Pettiford) who had to have a hysterectomy, which hurt her real bad, so she got up with this man(Lucas Hamilton), whom she seduced with a seven course meal,thinking perhaps that if she got with one man who could rock her world before she had this operation, she would be happy. but funnily, the man just couldln’t get her off his mind. Then you have another woman(Cassandra), who COULD have children, which her husband wanted badly and would divorce her if she didn’t stop putting it off, and she got real cold feet because she thought she’d be ugly and unappealing to him if she did get pregnant. Initially the two women became neighbors, but Cassandra didn’t think well of her, but as time moved on, they became good friends and Cassandra confided in Susan and back. Susan, feeling that she could invest in kids another way, started tutoring young kids at school, where she fell in love with a nice little girl named Rudy, and the only little boy that wouldn’t tease her, Nathan, both had problems. Rudy is a foster child, and Nathan, though he lived with his grandmother, wasn’t well, plus Nathan was in mourning over his mother and father’s deaths sadly. But as time moved on, Rudy and Nathan got attached to one another as well. It’s a real nice story and I’m just telling the half of it. There’s other situations included, which I won’t divulge, but please get the book. It won’t disappoint.

A story about "Knit Together: Discover God's Pattern for Your Life" — 2 years ago

I haven’t read any of Debbie’s fiction, but this book is fast becoming a favorite. I haven’t finished, but I like the way this book is written. Easy, full of personal experiences and such from the author.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I remember buying this book back around 1999, and just throwing it in my closet; fast foward to this year, and Oprah makes it her book of the month, and has Sidney over with a few other folks in an intimate dinner setting and I said, Ok, I have to get out this book; Only thing; It was in a closet that was blocked by a china cabinet due to our kitchen being remodeled; When the cabinet finally gets removed, Hope upon hope, the book is there, I read it within a day; It is THAT good and I HIGHLY recommend it; Although it’s a memoir, he talks about the values and things that he cherishes and the experiences he went through to make him the man he is today; He spoke of his mother going to a fortune teller to find out if he would make it or not, and the woman was right on the money;(50cents worth) and then when he was in Miami and taken into the police car and the cops letting him go and telling him “don’t look back” that was so harrowing. I could go on and on, but check it out for yourself.

WORTH CONSUMING!

It’s been a while since I last read a Danielle Steel, and so far this book hasn’t made me hate it; Such a nice novel about a young royal who wants to make a difference in the world, but can’t due to her own obligations. Interesting story.
