A story about "Death in sixty days:Who Silenced Booker T.Washington" — 6 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I was blessed to go to a lecture by the author a couple of months ago and to say that my eyes weren’t open on this would be wrong; However, there are many people in the South and up North who feel very strongly on this and I highly suggest that you read with an open mind. The author and I had a discussion on this after I read it; Available on Amazon.

A story about "Orfeu Negro (Black Orpheus) - 1959 - Marcel Camus" — 25 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I have heard of folks talk so much on this movie but it is not one of most attainable flicks out there; But when I was at the bigger libraries in town, I happened to come across it and was so glad I did; I got to watch it for myself this morning and with the bossa nova score, the carnival atmosphere, the samba dancing and the story of two doomed lovers who try to love one another in spite of one’s pending engagement to another, and death on the heels of the other. Great score by the late Antonio Carlos Jobim and Louis Bonfa. Sadly, both stars of this film Marpissa Dawn and Bruno Mello died a mere six weeks of each other last year.

A story about "Christmas Jars" — 29 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This book may be short, but it packs a wallop. This has got to be one of the most life changing books I’ve read this year and believe me I have read some good ones. All about a young girl who got a jar of money when her apartment was burgularized, she seeks to find out who sent it and meets a family that brings her into their own hearts and lives. I would love to say more, I cannot. But if you read this book and you don’t start your jar, I am truly surprised. Be blessed and enjoy.

A story about "Miracle at St. Anna (2008)" — 33 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

In spite of the differences of opinion on Spike Lee, the fact remains that before he undertook this movie, the book of the same title peeped it’s way into our hearts before it went to film last year. I never forgot the story of the little boy displaced by war and the African American soldiers who tried to keep him; It made me laugh, mostly made me sad, some scenes are brutal, but in the end you can’t help but applaud it. I really feel this is one of Spike’s best.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I finally bought an Ipod Classic 120gb a month ago once I got my income tax refund. One of the first things I promised myself, and it is taking me a lot to learn, but I really enjoy listening to it and to be honest it is great when you really don’t want to hear too much unnecessary talking.

A story about "The Women" — 41 weeks ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I liked the movie myself. I am a lot for women to be empowered, and though I have watched all three versions of the movie(1939,1957, and 2008), and though I loved the original, I liked this version as well. I have seen folks bash this film, but what really made me happy is the fact that although Mary and her husband was estranged, she let him know that although she was busy and things were not the best, she was more evolved and if she wanted to or not, she’ll deal with him when she could. I loved that last scene the most. so empowering.

WORTH CONSUMING!

I got to watch this movie on Wednesday at home, and to me, Katt Williams stole the movie. I wasn’t down with Tracey Morgan because I felt that all he did was do or suggest stuff and get his cousin Ice Cube in trouble. One role that I felt was noteworthy was Olivia Cole’s role as the older lady who stood up to Ice Cube and Tracey Morgan in the movie. Out of all the folk that they held up, she stood up and faced them down. What I did enjoy was that instead of a bad ending, it ended up being a win win situation for all involved.

A story about "Fettuccine Alfrédo" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I used to make this for myself and the girls when they were younger. I recentlly took up making it again. The only thing they come out more runny than not. Night before last, I had some ingredients and I made a darn good batch that I felt was appetizing. Now if I can keep the oil from seperating from the rest. I don’t get to the Olive Garden, so I truly love making it at home.

A story about "Aromatherapy Heat Pack" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I have a friend at work that has sinus problems, and I got to buy him the part that you can put across your nose or eyes, and gave it to him, and he had some sinus problems, and went right back to the job where he left it and brought it home and he said it was a big help to him. I am trying to buy another set little bit by little bit. I really find them a great help for aches and pains.

A story about "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (40th Anniversary Edition)" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

My mom hipped me to this movie as a child, and to this day, no matter what she’s doing, she’ll sit down and watch it and we’ll go back and forth on this issues. A young white girl meets and falls in love with a man, typical story so far, but in this case, he’s black, and she brings him home to meet her parents who are liberal minded. But their own belief system gets tested on this which makes for a very interesting movie.
