Survival Sickness

If you’re looking for a band that sounds like the Refused- this isn’t the album you want. The (International) Noise Conspiracy will never be the Refused, but they’re something quite spectacular on their own. And their shows are a lot of fun.

(if that made no sense, its because you are unaware that the lead singer of the (int) noise conspiracy, Dennis Lyxzén, used to have a hardcore band called the Refused)

no but really, for those not familiar with Gogol Bordello- get familiar. The term “gypsy punk” only just begins to scratch the surface of this band. They sound like punk rockers on LSD trying to play Klezmer music but at the same time struggling to regain the use of language and thus switching from english to romanian, to ukranian, to russian to spanish.
and their live shows are incredible.

The Great Depression

One of the best CDs I own, or could ever hope to own. Defiance, Ohio is the best example of folk punk music one could hope to find. They sound like a cross between (the old) Against Me! and The Weakerthans. But no matter what sort of music you listen to I can’t imagine disliking this album.

Each track is good individually. As an album it’s very unfocused. It doesn’t form a cohesive whole. The tracks sung by Jello Biafra however, make this CD 100% worth buying.
