Excellent Book! — 3 years ago
Megan Maccafferty is an excellent writer. This book was so well written…It’s the third in a series of novels about Jessica Darling, a sharp-witted, intelligent, talented young writer, as she makes her way through relationships with guys, friends, her family and through Columbia University. The series started out with Jessica in high school in the first and second novels, and follows her until she graduates college at the end of this third novel.
What I was most impressed by is that Maccafferty provided very clear, good references back to the people and situations from the 1st and 2nd novels…which is very helpful since it’s been a couple years between books..and also will help readers who never read #1 and #2 (Which I highly recommend that you do, however). There are characters that represent people we all knew in high school (or maybe some of you were like some of them).
The characters are so believable, so real, and she writes with such a fresh, genuine voice…You feel all of the humiliation, angst, anger, laughter and frustration right along with Jessica…and the infamous Marcus Flutie, who is such a complex character!...Makes you wonder if this is semi-autobiographical? Hmmm. (Author went to Columbia too)....
The book flap says she is at work on yet another Jessica Darling novel…which is great! Would really be interested in seeing movies….
These are stories of coming-of-age, growing through all the trials and tribulations of being young…Ones that tug at your heart strings and make you remember what it was once like…
I highly recommend this book, and the series.
