Excellent Book! — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Megan Maccafferty is an excellent writer. This book was so well written…It’s the third in a series of novels about Jessica Darling, a sharp-witted, intelligent, talented young writer, as she makes her way through relationships with guys, friends, her family and through Columbia University. The series started out with Jessica in high school in the first and second novels, and follows her until she graduates college at the end of this third novel.

What I was most impressed by is that Maccafferty provided very clear, good references back to the people and situations from the 1st and 2nd novels…which is very helpful since it’s been a couple years between books..and also will help readers who never read #1 and #2 (Which I highly recommend that you do, however). There are characters that represent people we all knew in high school (or maybe some of you were like some of them).

The characters are so believable, so real, and she writes with such a fresh, genuine voice…You feel all of the humiliation, angst, anger, laughter and frustration right along with Jessica…and the infamous Marcus Flutie, who is such a complex character!...Makes you wonder if this is semi-autobiographical? Hmmm. (Author went to Columbia too)....

The book flap says she is at work on yet another Jessica Darling novel…which is great! Would really be interested in seeing movies….

These are stories of coming-of-age, growing through all the trials and tribulations of being young…Ones that tug at your heart strings and make you remember what it was once like…

I highly recommend this book, and the series.

What a great movie...Dog Lovers - watch this. — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

If you ever had a beloved dog that was like family….you will love this movie. This movie is a story about the bond between person and dog…and about the will to survive and never give up in the name of love….The love of a fiercely loyal and faithful pack of dogs…and their owner.

The acting isn’t academy award worthy perhaps..but the story is compelling, and very touching. The scenery is breath-taking..and the dogs in this movie are amazing. Definitely have your tissues ready…

I loved this movie…

90 Minutes I can't get back — 3 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

I, like other viewers, knew this movie was NOT going to be a cinematic masterpiece…We knew it would be pretty dumb actually but everything else good was checked out at the rental place. So we thought what the heck. There were a few funny parts, but overall it was pretty lame. I agree with another reviewer—I don’t see what was “Unrated/UnCut” About it…it wasn’t that racy…Unless you consider a stuffed cat having diarreah in the toilet Adult Subject Matter. It was basically 90 or so minutes of my life I’ll never get back….

A review of "Marley & Me: Life and Love with the World's Worst Dog" — 3 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I agree with other readers commenting on the All Consuming Website…This book is for anyone who’s ever had a dog that has been a handful, misunderstood or hard to train…or really for anyone who has ever loved a dog this book will speak to your heart.

This story was so well written and told. It almost felt like I was being told the story, one-on-one. It was told with a voice so real, and with so much love, humor and passion. John writes with such eloquence and heart.

I read this book in 2 days, couldn’t put it down. I laughed, smiled so hard my face hurt, felt tears of empathetic joy, pride and even sobbed in parts, as John, Jenny and Marley experienced such difficulties at times.

This story reminded me of the remarkable, amazing life that I had with my Jack Russell Terrier, Watts, who I had to put down in January 2003. Watts, too, was a difficult dog when he was young, but after many years of training, mistakes on both my part and Watts’, one escapade after another, he grew into a wonderful adult dog. I miss him so terribly, every day. John’s story about life with Marley was so touching, and made me think about my precious time with Watts and how I am a better person for having him in my life.

I will read this book again over the years I am sure. It is a treasure!!

Pssst I saw an interview with John online…it’s going to become a movie!!!! It will probably take a couple years he predicted…I can’t wait!!

Totally Satisfying!! — 3 years ago

Only 11 Points on WW program for a small. I got it with Whole Wheat (which I think is 1 or 2 points less…) It is amazing tasting, filling, and nutritious!! I didn’t have chips or any other side/dessert…the sandwich alone was a great meal. It’s my new fave!!
