The Good Food 101 series — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

All these books are gems. They’re compact, cost around £6, and have a full colour picture for each recipe, with kcal/protein/fat quantity information too. These books are a great way to get into cooking, I own four of them so far.

Why it's taking me forever to finish consuming "Wasting Police Time" — 2 years ago

NOT WORTH CONSUMING

Like most factual books of this nature, they make me rather angry. And also, I don’t much like the policeman author, as he seems to have given up, and, like most other policemen, is lazy. Never really wanting to solve anything, just complaining about the current situation. And it annoys me that he is this way when the people he admires are people in the force who have tried to stand up and make a difference. But I will finish it, I promise. It’s very rare I leave a book unfinished.

Why I recommend "Erik the Viking" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Erik is different from his viking brethren, and is not fond on the raping and pillaging. He decides to go to the Gods and ask for them to return the sun to the skies (you know everyone’s happier when it’s sunny, hehe). So, he gets a boatload of vikings to come with him on his quest, and as you’d expect from Terry Jones (a former Python), craziness ensues. It’s a grievously underrated film, Tim Robbins is great in it, and the supporting cast are also excellent. If you get the chance, I certainly recommend it highly. Enjoy.

A story about "Sign Language Companion (Human Horizons)" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is a really great book for learning British Sign language, it helped a lot when I did my introduction course, and has a lot more than I learnt, so I could expand. I know it will be essential if/when I do the Level 1 and 2 courses in BSL, and I will probably need to have the full dictionary :) it’ll be fun though.

A story about "Annabel Karmel's Favourite Family Recipes" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is one of my favourite recipe books, every recipe I’ve tried has gone down well :) Annabel Karmel is great.

A story about "Lonely Planet Sweden" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

It’s interesting, I won’t be reading it cover-to-cover, since a lot of the book details places to stay and site-seeing things, in places I won’t go to. It is good that the information is there, though, it’s definitely a complete guide to Sweden, I may have use for the other sections in time :)

A story about "The Xenophobe's Guide to the Swedes" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I think it’s important to take books like this as a guide only. I mean, keep in mind what it says, but don’t see it as complete fact. It’s summing up a whole country, you can’t expect every Swede you meet to act in the same way :) It was entertaining though, and I’d be interested to read The Xenophobe’s Guide to the English, see what they’re saying about us, hehe.

A story about "The Tizzle Sisters & Erik (The Tizzle Sisters)" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

It’s a bit of a strange one this, pages of text, pages of comic-style illustration and pencil illustrations too. It is going very quickly though, and it’s easy to keep reading :)

A story about "Platoon (Special Edition)" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Never before have I ever rooted for a Willem Dafoe character :) It’s a great film, and I’m almost certain there’ll be one like this made about the Iraq war, in maybe 20 years time.

Why I recommend "L.A. Confidential" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

If you like not knowing where characters stand, this is the film for you. I like finding out who are the actual bad guys, because it’s never black and white. Instant favourite :)
