Why I recommend "Splitting Heirs" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I really enjoyed watching Splitting Heirs again. I don’t remember this film getting a cinema release (I was a skint student when this was released and couldn’t afford to go to the cinema very often) but found it in a video rental shop about 10 years ago.

It is not rude or crude and the only violence is mild comedic violence. There are British and American actors in this and something from both cultures is combined to make this film funny.

It is a great escapist film (it bears absolutely nothing to do with my real life!) with the best of English black comedy.

Not their best but good — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I prefer the creativity and originality of Origins of Symmetry but this is still a good listen.

Why I recommend "Man Who Loved Only Numbers :ERDOS" — 1 year ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This man was dedicated and knew only how to function when he was doing maths. He was kind and caring but had trouble communicating with people on levels other than maths, yet has influenced and touched more modern mathematicians than perhaps any other.

He was publishing actively until he died 10 years ago aged 83 when he was still working 19 hour days on theories and papers. He would encourage other mathematicians and pose puzzles and was never greedy with fame or recognition.

Published mathematicians now have an ERDOS (pronounced air-dish) number which is the degree of separation between their article and the great man himself – a joint paper with Erdos has an Erdos number of 1, a paper with someone who has an Erdos number of 1 but if you haven’t published with Erdos gives you an Erdos number of 2, etc.

He’s that important.
And interesting.

Very highly recommended reading.

Why I recommend "The Best of Talking Heads: Once in a Lifetime" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This has to be my favourite Talking Heads album. The production is possibly too polished for some (listen to Stop Making Sense instead – a live album featuring many of the same tracks) but I find it near perfect.

A review of "Royal Albert Hall October 10 1997" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

I was there.
I have this on vinyl.
What a gig.
Even better to have such a wonderful reminder.

Why I want to consume "Murder on the Orient Express (Hercule Poirot Mysteries (Paperback))" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This is for me the best reason to read this book. Am enjoying it so far but am rationing it so I can continue studying for my upcoming exam.

A story about "Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

This has to be the best flavour they’ve ever made. I like others but keep coming back to this one.

WORTH CONSUMING!

OMG!!

These are the most amazing truffles I’ve ever had. Not so overpoweringly sweet and sickly that you can scoff the whole box without feeling sick. Just want more afterwards ;)

They melt in the mouch and leave you with such a total feeling of satisfaction they’re dangerous.

A story about "XX Olympic Winter Games" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Don’t officially have the time to watch this at the moment but as I’m off work poorly-sick and can’t concentrate on reading a book I’ve watched this since Friday evening so far and it’s Monday evening now. Keep dozing off and missing bits but at least I don’t have to miss it to study.

Have been surprised about how much fun the Snowboard Cross seems. I like pursuit sports like cross-country skiing and speed skating too. Looking foward to a whole evening watching the final stage of the ice dancing.

A story about "Baileys with a splash of Buttershot" — 2 years ago

WORTH CONSUMING!

Well mine is Baileys with some butterscotch & vanilla schnapps. A wonderful mixture – it slides down so easily.
