The duets between Louis Armstrong and Carmen McRae are some of the best recordings ever made. The music is fun, jazzy and wonderful. Incredible.

This is an incredible book. Hearne is not your average “animal rights” person. She was a philosopher and a poet, at once a rigorous thinker and a person who cared deeply about domestic animals. Her attitudes toward dogs and horses are much more grounded in the real world and the realities of living and working with animals than the theoretical ideas of some animal rights proponenets. She is always challenging, sometimes upsetting, but frequently brilliant. She raises questiions about the scope and range of language that deserve serious thought and consideration.
